Anthrocon!
I survived Anthrocon 2015!
Well, it was a great con! I was able to commission a custom badge from
as well as picking up goodies from several other well known artists.
Big thanks goes to
who managed the long drive both ways on little sleep, without getting us killed.
Also, much thanks to my roomies
for being a great bunch of guys.
A highlight for me was the EPIC fursuit parade, which for the first time, went outside underneath the convention centre, to show off for the public. And boy did they ever come out to see us! Tons of people lined the route, several rows deep! The cheering was loud, and all I could see was smiles, waving hands and "I <3 Anthrocon" signs. I sure felt the love from that crowd. Probably the best fur suiting moment I've ever had!
Another moment comes close though. In the dealers den, I suited around a bit. Parents had their little tot, barely able to walk, and she was hugging some suiters. Me being a black wolf, I knelt down but hung back. I didn't want to scare her so I put the shy moves on. But she came over to me just like the others, opened her little arms and threw them around my neck! I gave her a hug and she gave a little 'low-five' on my paw. She was all smiles! I was so happy she wasn't scared of me! Her mom said she's used to dark furries as well, since mom had a cosplay of the dark wolf in Wolf's Rain. As I stood speaking to the parents, I felt those little arms wrap around my legs. I look down and the little one is smiling up at me! Thought my heart would burst! It was so great to make the kids smile!
My experience this year was hampered by my own body, having some severe pain while walking. I was pretty much hobbling on Friday and Saturday, but I made it. I would've like to fursuit more, but the pain was too much. After seeing my chiropractor and massage therapist today, I know I was hobbling around on strained tendons in both my feet and lower legs. Thankfully, I should be able to deal with the issues.
So much thanks go to my roomies who didn't abandon me when I needed them, even when I slowed them down a bit, and probably wasn't as happy as I would like to have been. You guys are the best.
I don't regret anything though, because it was a great con! Met some new friends and visited missed friends. Explored Pittsburgh more this time, and hope to see more next time. I will be back, maybe not next year, but I will be back.
