hey guys so I'm like 3 days from heading to Alaska for 4 months. I'm...both excited and incredibly nervous. I know i'll do fine but I just hope I won't fuck up enough that they hate me lol

the reason for all the baking rn is cause i've been at home for 1 1/2 weeks and i needed to make sure the recipes I wanted to take with me to Alaska I could make so this is me practicing also I've missed baking for pleasure rather than work. it's been very cathartic and calming for me.

also I have an instagram where i post all my food and random other pics if you wanna follow me there. I'll post more pics of Alaska there than anywhere else so there's that. Link

HELLO EVERYONE!!

I haven't been around here much but that's not unusual news. BUT i wanted to share with you this FANTASTIC FUCKING NEWS cause i love all of you.

I have been offered and accepted a head baker position IN ALASKA!! at a lodge in a national park in FREAKING ALASKA!!

I don't go till May but GUYS I'M FUCKING EXCITED! I LIKE DANCED IN THE WALK-IN AT WORK WHEN I READ THE EMAIL!!! I'M SO FUCKING HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!

So over the last year or so I've discovered I REALLY like making jam. Like I love it a lot. I still love baking a lot but making jam is really cathartic for me since I don't do that for work and it's not a lot of effort on my days off.

I'm kind of thinking I might want to see about selling it. I'll start off with selling it to my friends around Chicago and see how that goes. But I might be able to sell it (small amounts) outside of the state.

We'll see :)


Now if only I could've gotten that freaking internship at THE JAM MAKING PLACE.

welp pokebake is dead. lasted 2 times and then real life got in the way which happens so no worries. i doubt it's the last time me and my buds bake together again. but it'll probably be a while.

that said i'm gonna try and bake more just for me. cause it relaxes me and makes me happy. no set schedule. i'll just bake when i find a recipe i just really wanna make.

So this is me officially saying I'm back in the pleasure baking game! And by pleasure I mean my pleasure!

Little update to my life. So I got a promotion/raise at my job I'm now official "assistant baker" and now I'm only baking switching between the breads/pastries and cakes. So that's so much fun! I have to go into work at 4am now so YAY FOR THAT! no seriously yay this is my dream. Although my hours shorted a little bit because of how quickly we work in the morning I'm getting more days at work now so hopefully that'll kind of even out. exciting!

Also I have legit awesome friends in Chicago now! Who actually wanna hang out with me! We all congregate at the comic book store one of them works at and they decided that they've had enough of me only taking about baking (and bringing them snacks) that they wanna try doing it! So we're gonna have bi-weekly PokeBake mondays! cause we all have it off. Today was the first one and they came to my place we made scones then while we waited for them to cook we went to Belmont Harbor (20 min walk) to catch pokemon! cause we're all nerds. we were out there for about 1 1/2 hours which was amazing. i caught a dratini AND a slowbro! So look forward to every other week a baked good popping up!

Also a little note on an even more personal note of my life. I've been seriously depressed for like 3 months. This last month has been the worst I've ever felt in a very very long time. To the point where I didn't talk to any of my friends that I didn't have to see face to face. It was/still is a very hard time for me. But honestly Pokemon Go is really helping me. It makes me happier just finding a pokemon that I enjoy. I'm talking to people again, people I don't know when we all meet at a lure. And now PokeBake mondays are happening. And... I think this is the happiest I've been since I moved to Chicago. Which is saying something big.

Hey guys sorry it's been awhile since I've baked anything. I officially can't afford to bake leisurely so yeah until I work full time I probably won't be baking anything that's not extra from school. That being said any batters I bring home and will bake at home will be posted here. Everything I post from school will be in grams though due to how that being how they scale things out. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes for people who wish to make what I post. I could make an educated guess to how many cups/spoons it is but it wouldn't be exact.
