Surgery went well. I am home, and recovering. Got a goose egg the size of a golf ball where they went through my muscles to get to my spine on my back where my neck and shoulders meet, but that was expected. Muscle relaxants, pain killers, and ice are my friend. Hoping to be able to draw in a month or two.

Like my last hiatus, I will start by doing casual art and gift art to get myself back into practice, work my endurance back up, and get to the point where I can actually do commissions at my standards. Then I will make an announcement once I am ready to open commissions.

So I have spoken with my spine surgeon again, my surgery date will be on March 19th. I will try to establish a 'proof of life' chain of people who can leave updates on my progress until I am well enough to be back online myself. I know that will happen through my Discord and Telegram, but I am not sure how reliable that will be here. Regardless, the end is in sight.

I just spoke to my spine surgeon. We still don't have a date, but since everything is still crazy, we are switching from going in through the front, to the more invasive procedure going in through the back. It will be more painful, but is safer, meaning that I don't need the second specialist. This means that it will be far easier to schedule. So fingers crossed that I will have a date scheduled some time soon.

So one of my kind fans reached out to me to make sure everything was okay, since it has been so long since I have posted anything. And that made me realize that I had been posting updates to my Discord server, and Telegram channel, but not to my art repositories. So, here is an explanation of what has been going on since July.

I reaggravated my neck injury in July, the worst time so far. I required an additional MRI, and steroid injections into my neck did not help. I am on meds that control the pain and most the numbness, but if I try to use my hand for anything detailed for more than a few minutes, my hand starts to get twitchy and hurt. Hard to hold a pen or stylus, can't use chopsticks, some days I haven't even been able to brush my teeth due to it. This has made drawing pretty much impossible. What I used to be able to do in two to four hours, now takes me days, and the end product is not something I'm proud of.

So, I am awaiting surgery. A second surgery on my spine for those keeping count. But because of where this particular trouble spot is, they need a reconstructive throat specialist to make sure I come through safe and sound. That means juggling the schedule of two surgeons and a hospital. This means that I am on a waiting list that is expected to be about three months long.

Spinal update! I'm just back from the doctor with my 6 week post-op check up. It's all good news. I'm 100% off narcotics and muscle relaxants, and able to start weaning myself of Gabapentin. I am no longer required to wear the cone of shame at home, I only need to wear it when I am in the car, or in places where I might be jostled about by the public, and that is only for the next 4 weeks, then I'm done with it for good. The doctor doesn't think that I require physical therapy with the level of recovery I am showing so far.

Because I am healing fairly well naturally, they are going to hold off on doing any surgery on this event. However the doc said that I'm not getting out of this without surgery at some point. I'm going to get PT and meds for the remainder of the healing for this event, and at the next flare up I will get steroid injections into my spine, likely followed by surgery.

I'm going to hold off on doing any commissions until the prescribed 6 weeks of PT is over.

Just so everyone knows why I haven't posted anything in a while. I'm currently injured. I have moderate to severe disk compression, which is causing pain in my arms and has caused my left arm to go mostly numb from the elbow to my fingers. I am always willing to pause someone's spot in queue until they are better able to afford things, or cancel their slot and have them reenter the queue at a later date if they don't know when or if they will be able to continue. I promise you I will never have hard feelings or be upset over this. You aren't leading me on, or breaking a vow or anything. I would rather all of you are safe, healthy, and happy first. So feel free to always be honest with me if you need to delay or cancel.

So, Discord has closed my account for violating their ToS. They refuse to tell me what part of the ToS I broke, but I'm not going to argue, odds are, I did.
