Anthrocon 2017
Posted 8 years agoI had a very nice time at AC this year.
Big thanks to my good friends, Ausup, Caz, Nexus and Bootz, who made it possible for me to attend. As well, thanks to Molson and OshBear, who let me ride with them. :)
Big shoutout also goes to KirinHybrid, who finished my body suit just in time, so Silvermoon debuted at AC, for the first time, as a full suit! :)
Got quite a few compliments and made many people smile. That's my favourite part of suiting, getting positive reactions. It's especially wonderful when even some little ones are not afraid of me (a big dark wolf can be scary!)
It warms my heart when wonder replaces fear. Such is one of the messages of my sona.
Good times, good food, good friends. What more can one ask for? :)
I may not make it out there next year, but I will be back in the future.

FE 2017
Posted 8 years agoWell, I haven't said much in a while.
I just haven't had much to say that isn't redundant really.
I had a very nice time at FE this year. I personally didn't have any problems, even though I know some glitches and growing pains come with a new venue. If anything, I may have felt a bit self-conscious being such a nerd among such upscale clientele.
Seriously though, can people learn to shower? I know this is redundant, but I was on an elevator, with a 'non-con' couple. On get a couple of girls, not even suiters, but con attendees, with badges... And the BO just hit me in the face. I held my finger to my nose until they got off on a floor above me. The doors close and I exhale audibly. The couple exclaimed, "that is disgusting!" I agreed and apologized, noting that unfortunately, some are socially unaware, and many of us feel as they do.
PLEASE PEOPLE! FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS STINK!! YOU'RE MAKING US ALL LOOK BAD!!
Also, shout out to the young guy who has recently been defaming and insulting the local group, of which I am a part, though he barely knows any of us. Way to be all, "I don't want anyone from this group to come near me", and "I don't want hugs from (these people)", only to approach many of us while we were suiting, asking for hugs. LOL, of course we oblige, since we're not the bad people you label us as. But don't think you didn't bring it on yourself when we spoke aloud of who we were, just so you'd know. Enjoy your hypocrisy kiddo.
Well, that felt good. Seriously though, I did have a really good time. So proud of my friends who stepped out of their comfort zone, and onstage in the Masquerade! Bootz, Sparx, you both rocked, and had my votes! :)

FE 2016
Posted 9 years agoWell, I had a great time this year! I'll break it down to the highlights...
First into the Dealers Den on Friday, to get a sketch from GOH Tani Da Real, and it was worth the wait! I just love the sketch she did of Silvermoon with Mojo. So much cute, I can't even... I almost cried when she gave it to me.
Also bought some of her prints and other little things.
Pleased to deliver 2 new badges to
and glad he is pleased with them.
Thanks for commissioning me again bud!
The surprise of Uncle Kage coming to FE was just great! I heard the news Saturday night, saw him at breakfast in the Olio Sunday, and was able to get pictures with him. He really does hug you in suit, no fake there. ;)
Did the extended weekend stay for the first time, Thursday night to Monday. Really does allow you to relax more.
I was able to pick up my badge (preregistration) Thursday night to avoid the aweful lines on Friday. Also, able to stay and party Sunday night!
Thanks to
and his friend from NFLD, I got screeched in! Oh boy was that a giggly evening! Went to the end of the Dead Dog dance to sing and dance to the retro songs I know and love, what a great time. It sure does feel fun to be part of a community where the con chair parties and sings with you, and you may even call him your friend. Thanks Scani. :)
Good Roomies make a good con experience. I've got a good set of roomies,
and
are the kind of roomies you want to room with again, thanks guys!
And of course, seeing all those I rarely see otherwise, from Toronto, to Ottawa, to the USA and beyond, it's so nice to see so many, and feel such positivity and creativity in the atmosphere.
I look forward to FE2017, when we will see a new, bigger venue in Downtown Toronto! I'll miss the kindness and familiarity of the Sheraton, but I'm very excited for to experience the Westin Harbour Castle. I believe it'll be great! :)

Oh, fine... (FE meme)
Posted 9 years agoWhere are you staying?
Sheraton (Main Hotel)
What day are you getting there?
Will be arriving sometime on Thursday
Who will you be rooming with?
kirinhybrid
Kalsiswolf
Curo
Who will you be traveling with?
My roomies.....
Who will you hang out with during the convention?
My roomies, Oshawa Furs, other fur friends from Toronto, Ottawa, whatever! :)
Are there any panels you might be attending?
Tea Social, Lady Furs, I'd like to go to whatever Tani De Real's panel will be.
Are you attending any stage or public performances?
Maybe, we'll see how plans shake out
Will you be suiting?
Yes. :)
Which suit(s) will you be bringing?
Silvermoon, #1 and maybe #2. :)
How can I find you?
Dealers Den, wandering around the Zoo by day. My room, friends' rooms by night.
Best way is to ask around! I'm not usually hard to find. ;)
Do you draw?
I do, when inspired.
What are your limits to drawing?
Limits? Well, my stuff is generally PG if that's what you mean.
How old are you?
36
How tall are you?
5'7"
Are you taken? Are you looking for a mate?
Single. Not really 'looking' as such. But who knows when you'll make a connection?
But I'm not a one-night-stand type.
Can I talk to you?
Sure, only I'm on my way somewhere, then it might have to wait until later.
Can I touch you?
Only the good kind.
Can I visit your room?
Friends are welcome to stop in, as long as they respect the room & roomies.
Can I buy you drinks?
Who would say no to that? ;)
Can I give you stuff?
Sure. But I hold drugs for no one. :P
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Hugs are welcome, as long as you've showered.
Snuggling is such an ambiguous term....
Are you nice?
Generally, I'd like to think so. I tend to mirror what's coming at me.
How long are you going?
Arriving on Thursday... Leaving Monday.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Come over and say hi, tap my shoulder, a gentle poke. Please don't poke me hard.
Thing is, I'm visually impaired (legally blind) so don't be offended if I don't notice you, especially in a busy environment. I often come across as aloof, but I often have to focus on where I'm headed to avoid obstacles or find what I'm looking for in the moment.
Where will you be most of the time during the days?
Dealers Den, meandering around the Zoo
What/where will you be eating?
A couple of dinners out, going cheap on a lot of it.
Can I come with you for food/fun etc?
I imagine so, since most who would be reading this are my friends there anyway. ;)
Can I look in your sketchbook?
i likely won't be carrying one around. If I have my iPad with me, sure.
Can I draw in your sketchbook?
Again, I might not have one with me.
Can I take your picture?
Sure. :)
What’s your goal for the con this year?
Hoping to get something from Tani De Real. Otherwise, general fun and relaxation. Shopping. ;)

New journal update thingy...
Posted 9 years agoBeen a while since I've posted, mostly since my friends know what's happening with me via other social media. But here's a few basics...
Went to Mexico for the sixth time at the end of January. Man I wish I could've stayed longer than a week. One day I'll do 2 weeks, when I can afford it. But I saw some great sites this time, crossed a couple of things off the bucket list.
I'm working on a couple of badges, and a couple of custom telegram stickers for friends. :) Working close to home allows a bit more time for inspiration, art and friends. Very glad to see friends regularly at Oshawa Furmeet.
I will be at FE, staying in the main hotel and suiting of course.
And Drumpf leading in the GOP scares the shit out of me, and I'm not American! There, that's my political side.
OK, I'm done for now, LOL. I'll post more art when I've got more badges done.

Merry Christmas
Posted 9 years agoMerry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone.
I know this is a difficult time for some, but I hope they, and everyone, can feel at peace tonight.
Remember those we've lost, and show love to those who are still with us. Reach out to friends, family, even a stranger in need.
Peace and joy to all, may your hearts be lifted. <3

Rest in peace Horlequism
Posted 9 years agoHey Horley,
I know I wasn't your closest friend, but I will remember you. You were among the first few to welcome me into this fandom, at a time when I was looking for a way out of a long lonely downward spiral.
I'll remember coming out to my first meetup, your Toronto walk, on Labour Day weekend 2012. One of several great times I've had, among the many new friends I have since met. You also welcomed me as a roommate for my first AC in 2013. I admired your energy as a suiter, your fun, bouncy nature. You were always nice to me.
I'm not so close as to understand all you have been through in your life, I just know that it ended too soon, and it will be weird not seeing you around. (Or in my case, I often heard you before I saw you - "Brawl!") Your absence will certainly be felt by many.
My deepest sympathies go out to your family, close friends and of course, Jello.
Rest in peace my friend. And when you're done resting, I know you'll be bouncing around, partying up there. Thanks for the fun memories, and I'll raise a glass to you.

To my USA peeps...
Posted 9 years agoShout out to my friends south of the border! Happy Thanksgiving USA peeps! Hope it is peaceful and safe. May you not be trampled in shopping riots.
Anthrocon!
Posted 10 years agoI survived Anthrocon 2015!
Well, it was a great con! I was able to commission a custom badge from
as well as picking up goodies from several other well known artists.
Big thanks goes to
who managed the long drive both ways on little sleep, without getting us killed.
Also, much thanks to my roomies
for being a great bunch of guys.
A highlight for me was the EPIC fursuit parade, which for the first time, went outside underneath the convention centre, to show off for the public. And boy did they ever come out to see us! Tons of people lined the route, several rows deep! The cheering was loud, and all I could see was smiles, waving hands and "I <3 Anthrocon" signs. I sure felt the love from that crowd. Probably the best fur suiting moment I've ever had!
Another moment comes close though. In the dealers den, I suited around a bit. Parents had their little tot, barely able to walk, and she was hugging some suiters. Me being a black wolf, I knelt down but hung back. I didn't want to scare her so I put the shy moves on. But she came over to me just like the others, opened her little arms and threw them around my neck! I gave her a hug and she gave a little 'low-five' on my paw. She was all smiles! I was so happy she wasn't scared of me! Her mom said she's used to dark furries as well, since mom had a cosplay of the dark wolf in Wolf's Rain. As I stood speaking to the parents, I felt those little arms wrap around my legs. I look down and the little one is smiling up at me! Thought my heart would burst! It was so great to make the kids smile!
My experience this year was hampered by my own body, having some severe pain while walking. I was pretty much hobbling on Friday and Saturday, but I made it. I would've like to fursuit more, but the pain was too much. After seeing my chiropractor and massage therapist today, I know I was hobbling around on strained tendons in both my feet and lower legs. Thankfully, I should be able to deal with the issues.
So much thanks go to my roomies who didn't abandon me when I needed them, even when I slowed them down a bit, and probably wasn't as happy as I would like to have been. You guys are the best.
I don't regret anything though, because it was a great con! Met some new friends and visited missed friends. Explored Pittsburgh more this time, and hope to see more next time. I will be back, maybe not next year, but I will be back.

Where are you staying?
The Hampton Inn
What day are you getting there?
I’ll arrive Wednesday morning and I’m leaving Sunday evening
How are you traveling?
Ride share with my furbuds from Durham!
Who are you travelling with?
Who will you be rooming with?

What is best way to find you?
Probably by text, unless the WiFi around there is reliable, then Twitter should work.
Are there any panels you'll be attending?
We'll see. Zumba sounds fun, I'd like to see 2 and Kage, and whatever else amuses me.
What do you look like?
When in suit, I'm a black wolf with silver fur around my neck, and glowing blue eyes.
Will you be suiting?
Yes, Silvermoon the wolf will be there! :)
Do you do free art?
Only occasional gift art for friends.
Do you do trades?
On rare occasion.
What is your gender?
Femme fatale!
How tall are you?
5'6.5"
Can I talk to you?
Sure. :)
Can I touch you?
As in, a hug? Sure! Don't be one of those gropers though.
Can I visit your room?
If you’re invited, sure!
Can I buy you drinks?
That'd be great! :)
Can i give you stuff?
Stuff is good, I like stuff!
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Such a vague term. Again, I'm great for hugs. ;)
Are you nice?
Only to nice people.
Will you be going to parties?
i believe so, even if just a couple.
How can I get your attention?
I'm visually impaired, so it would take a big wave, or yell for me, "Silvermoon" or just "Silver". A tap on the shoulder is fine if you're close. :)
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
EVERYWHERE!!
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
Sure!
Can I take your picture?
Sure, photos are fun! :)
What is your goal(s) for the con this year?
Try to get a commission or two, meet new furs and party a bit more.

Post FE updates
Posted 10 years agoHey fuzzies!
Like most, I had a great time at FE. Cheers to my great roomies, Curo, KyrinHybrid/Freya and Kalsis. I need to stick my photos somewhere and share the link.
But more importantly, I was distracted and stressed as I had 3 job competitions in the 2 weeks around FE. That's 3 tests and 3 interviews, each with panels of 3 managers. I worked hard, studied hard, and at least got to enjoy the brief respite of FE in the middle.
There has been a lot at stake for me; since I was surplused out of a permanent position near my home in Oshawa and forced to go to work in Toronto in 2008, I've been trying to get back to a permanent place in Oshawa again. The commute was costing me much in money, time and my sanity.
After 7 years, I can say that I DID IT! I won 2 of the 3 competitions (the third being a talent pool) and was offered 2 permanent positions in Oshawa! :D. Naturally, I've taken the higher paying one, and I start in two weeks. I've been working on contract in Oshawa for a while now, so now I don't have to go back to working in Toronto again! I don't have to have my dog home alone for long workdays. I can save money, and put it into my home! I can save my sanity, and hopefully do more art!
Anyway, just wanted to gush some happy news.

Updates
Posted 10 years agoWow, it's been awhile again, huh?
OK, so I've been very busy at work, and as my local buds know, I actually have 3 job interviews in the next 2 weeks! Yargh! This is a good thing of course, it's just they're very stressful. Doesnt matter that one of hiring managers knows me and likes me and my work. I have to say all the right words. First one is tomorrow morning. Then another on Thursday, and then one next week. The long term goal is to get a permanent position in my home city of Oshawa, so I don't have to go back to commuting to Toronto. Blech! Please send good thoughts!
Of course, I will be at FE! It's the little staycation amidst all this work craziness.
But as we all know, con prep is crazy too. Just finished the badges for the Lady Furs meet. I'm the resident badge artist this year.
Have a badge commission for a friend as well which will be finished. And I might have time to get a badge done for myself as well.
Silvermoon 1 and 2 will be there. Silvermoon 1 has new ears to show off! :)
Alright, well, I've gotta get back to studying for the interview. Night folks, see you next week!

Merry Christmas!
Posted 10 years agoHey, Merry Christmas everyone!
My day started with me dropping my cell phone in the toilet. Yep, after 20 years with cell phones, I dropped one in the toilet TODAY of all days.
Well, the phone is in a Baggie of rice. Hopefully it will work.
Anyway, I hear many of my friends are coming down with nasty colds and flus. I'm just recovering from a nasty hacking cold myself, so I wish you all rest and a speedy recovery, so you can enjoy some Christmas cheer.
I wish all of you safe travels if you're on the road, rails or in the air.
I wish you all strength, if you must deal with difficult family relations that can come at holiday time.
I hope you get a gift that makes you smile - any gift, like a hug from a friend or loved one.
I wish you all Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanza, and all the other holidays as well. It's all about joy, peace light and love. So however you convey well-wishes, back at ya!

Printing Purchased Commissions...
Posted 10 years agoHey there!
I don't want this to be too much complaining here, as I support respecting copyright laws and the work of fellow artists. This is more of a mild annoyance/request/heads up to fellow artists...
I love sharing/advertising/promoting fellow artists, especially those who've done work for me. I love to show off their work and link back to, or tell everyone where I got it, so long as the artists are cool with that(most are).
Anyway, I'm wanting to make a nice photo collage of some of the Silvermoon commissions I've gotten from some great artists - to hang in my home. Not a big deal. Just one mild annoyance that I need to deal with and get past:
I've had some prints done at Costco, but they will not release them to me until I get written consent from the various artists. who did them.
I don't know if this happens often, but I'm hoping the artists who did the pieces in question won't mind providing me with the written consent as specified by the folks at the Costco Photo Centre.
I'll be contacting artists individually of course, but if anyone's wondering, they want:
1. The name of the artist, name of the company(if appilcable) - that may mean quoting your Tumblr, Twitter, FA, Logo, Signature, or whatever is on your watermark.
2. Business address(if one works from home, they would ask for home address) - this I find may make some feel uncomfortable. I would hope they would accept the artist's email address, but this is what they've asked for.
3. Statement in writing that I (my real name) am permitted to print commissioned art pieces relating to my character for personal use.
I don't know if other photo places are as militant about it, but they want this info for their own protection 'in case of audit', etc.
If anyone has a good example of how best to compose such a form for what is essentially a release to the commissioner so that they can print their purchased commission, please share. Otherwise, just see this as a heads up, so you won't be surprised if I ask you for written permission to print a commission. ;)
Or be prepared to deal with this when printing your purchased pieces.

Commission Terms of Service
Posted 10 years agoSince I've seen it come up recently in Facebook discussions, I think I should start spelling out terms of service for anyone choosing to commission me.
I do commissions as a hobby, I have a full-time job, so it's not like I do many commissions.
So I'll start with the most important points, just to have them here.
1. Copyrights: I retain the rights to my work, for the right to include it in my portfolio/albums.
The piece I do for you will NEVER be sold by me to anyone else. Your character is yours, and will always be acknowledged as such.
Of course you may post the piece I do for you in your own albums, but please credit me as the artist/don't claim the art is your own work.
2. You may ask me not to post your piece in my portfolio/albums. Please advise me of this when you first agree to commission me.
For a fee of $25, your piece will NEVER be posted publicly or displayed in any of my portfolios.
3. I accept payments via E-Transfer, PayPal, or cash in person.
Payments are due up front now. (You can thank a non-payer for that).
Previous commissioners who've established a trusted payment record may still keep the privilege of payment before/at delivery, for as long as they keep that trust.
I don't like doing this, as I know my work can take some time. But if I'm doing the work, I have the right to expect payment.
NOTE: I've been hearing that scams are on the rise, on both ends. I intend to do my part, and provide your art, even if it takes a while. If your funds do not clear (ie: "unauthorized funds" in PayPal) I will seek payment from you, and failing that, I keep messages and screenshots, and I WILL broadcast to high heaven if you scam me.
4. Deadlines: I work full-time. Anyone who knows me, knows my best work comes when I'm inspired, and that's not on a set schedule, though I don't like to keep someone waiting longer than necessary. If you have a specific deadline, please allow at least 2 weeks.
If your request is vague, that can add to the time it takes to nail down a design. The more specifics you have in mind, the faster it should come together.
I'll do my best to meet your needs and keep in contact with you on progress.
5. Prices:
$40 Canadian
Laminated badge, with clip, printed on photo paper usually within 5 x 7" size for a *trimmed to shape" badge, or about 4 x 6" for a "card style" badge(with basic background). Shipping is extra, based on postage rates. Check with me and I can get a rate for you.
$60 Canadian
Digital character portrait, simple background, colour, usually delivered by email or Dropbox
Add a second character for $20
6. Content: I don't draw penises. No graphic genitals, no gory violence, no vore at this time.
Images of intimacy, romance, kissing, yes I'm cool with that.
If you're still wondering, just ask me what you want, I'll tell you if I can do it. Artists can evolve after all. ;)
7. Trades: trades do happen, but very rarely, as money has more use to me.
Trades are based on the value of what's offered and therefore can vary. Therefore I would ask that a trade agreement not be advertised to others.
8. Terms and prices are subject to change, but any changes are only in effect once posted here.

Black fur
Posted 10 years agoHey everyone! I haven't posted in a while, but not too much to post...
I'm looking to get some black faux fur, as I'm going to have some work done on Silvermoon's ears.
Silvermoon is furred with CR Crafts' Black Fox fur, so I'm looking for a bit of that same type of fur, just enough for some ears. Not even half a yard. It can be the 1.5" pile, as it's for ears, and would get shaved a bit anyway. Doesn't have to be from CR, just want the same sheen on the fur as is already there.
I figure if any makers around have some decent scraps for ears, I'd give you a few bucks for them, assuming they're in decent condition.

Happy AC!
Posted 11 years agoWish I was heading to AC with all my furbuds. Alas I can't this year.
But I hope all of you who're going have lots of fun!
It took me a while to soak it all in on my first trip last year. Enjoy!
Can't wait to hear stories from my Durham furbuds.

I kinda wanna...
Posted 11 years agoAw man... I kinda wanna dance... Wish I had the talent, but it's certainly not my strong suit. Seems to be the domain of the young'ns, with a couple of exceptions...
I had a crazy thought that maybe I could join in the next FE Dance.. I don't wanna say 'Comp' as I'd not be in the running... But you get the idea...
Am I wasting my time, or should I maybe move to that song in my head?
Anyone have thoughts or advice? No, I can't afford dance lessons. I do Zumba. ;)
