The new tag-blocking system is a good start. We needed a tag-blocking system for a while, so I'm glad we got it. I've never used Fur Affinity's Browse feature much because you could see anything there. I hope that in the future, it will remove blocked tagged content from the browse page and search results instead of only censoring it. That way, it won't take up real estate in the feed.

Another future idea is an "I love this tag" feature that will bring tagged results to the top of the Browse feed or perhaps search results too.

Also, please start tagging your posts here so people can decide what things they want to see. Many people will select the block untagged content option, so if you want your stuff to be seen, just put some basic tags on things you post.

Someone on BluSky described Mastodon as "Twitter with HOAs." I got a content warning over a recent post. I'm in my late 30s, so I have no care or time to play petty power trip games with the undersocialized, so I deleted my Mastodon account. Here's what I said, so judge it for yourself:

"The more I see of the voter disenfranchisement efforts that happen in the American political system, the more I agree with our Australian electoral system with compulsory voting."

If my milquetoast of milquetoast takes gets a warning, they have issues. For example, their asking for content warnings on food photos should have been a red flag enough. I want a place to hang with friends, not over-moderated slop.

I've been drawing more art over on my artist account  silversheepdraws. I've been drawing so much that I'm running out of nibs for my drawing tablet. So I've ordered some more nibs for my pen. I've been going through the ones that came with it, and I'm down to my last one (that needs replacement). I ended up buying them from the Wacom Australia website.

Amazon was pushing their "free trial" of Prime. They were offering free shipping if I signed up. It's one of those modern subscription hard sells, where they sign you up for a subscription service in hopes you forget to cancel it at the end of the trial period. Many times you can't cancel via the subscription service's website and have to ring a call centre, in hopes you will be too frustrated to cancel the subscription. That, and the cost being more expensive and having it ship from the US to Australia, made it a hard no for me.

Aegosexual

I've found a word that describes where I'm at with my sexual identity. It's Aegosexual; a sexual orientation that falls under the asexuality umbrella. I've always been reluctant to identify as being on the asexuality spectrum because I always had this image of being asexual as being completely sex-repulsed and celibate to the point of not even engaging in masturbation. There's nothing wrong if this is how you are but it doesn't describe the full picture of being Ace. I was like, I have an attraction to males so I'm homosexual. I have sexual fetishes so I can't be Ace. I commission heaps of erotic furry art so I can't be Ace.

This was a belief founded on ignorance, as I learned more I discovered that wasn't the case. Asexual people can have a gender preference, have paraphilias and even be sexually active to some extent. Learning about the word Aegosexual describes how I engage with sexuality. Especially the part about enjoying viewing erotica and pornography but never fantasising about sex in the first person. It's like wow, that describes me. I'm not out there looking for sexual partners much of the time at all, compared to other people I know. I've only dated once and I'm not that excited or enthused about chasing more tail.

I don't think I'll be telling everyone that I'm Aegosexual now because telling people I'm gay is more understandable. It's nice to find a word that describes my experience in life.

With the current crackdown on the LGBT+ community in Russia, it pays to be safe online. If you have any real-life identifying information on Russian furries it's best to delete it or at least keep it under wraps. It's a clear and present danger to LGBT+ individuals who live in Russia or countries under their influence. The security services will be trying to find the real identity of Russian furs and put them on some propaganda list to target them with hate. You have to be careful with this information because things are getting worse and not better for LGBT+ folks in Russia.

I didn't want to jynx anything about my FurDU trip this year, so I didn't hype it up on my fur accounts. Since it happened and there were no disasters, I guess it's safe to do a write-up about it. To sum up my 2021 FurDU experience, in a word, it would be anxiety. Anxiety dominated this year's FurDU despite my best efforts to keep it under control. While I don't suffer from any anxiety-related mental health issues, I got the demo for anxiety simulated for most of the convention.

I feel one of the main sources for this anxiety was the whole covid-19 situation. We have been blessed in Australia with the light effects of the pandemic and are fortunate to hold such an event. Still, it was a pervasive worry that we would be bringing home some covid con-crud. It looks like we have been fortunate, being it is about two weeks out and no health alerts from the attendees. Another source of anxiety for me was the worry about some of my friends and their interpersonal drama that was going down. Normally I'm out of touch about such things, but this year I was worried about my friends and what was going down.

Yet another anxiety-inducing thing was potential blowback from who I choose to have in my friend circles. I'm usually of the mind of not giving a rat's behind about that sort of thing, but this year I was feeling very insecure. The last piece of anxiety relates to my family life and the health of my father. I won't go into it here, and it's not super bad, just a reminder of the things that can go wrong as people age. So most of the convention, I wasn't "present" as I was all in my mind and worries not living in the moment. In the end, I did end up having a good time. It just took me a while to get in the head game.

To get to FurDU this year, I went on a road trip this year with Warbrin and Tyro. It was a great choice and saved me from having to travel by air and allowing me to take both Silver Sheep and Braxton up with me. We left Sydney at stupid o'clock and were out on the highway for a straight cruise up to Queensland. It was a great way to travel, and I'm so glad I chose to get up there this way. One of the complexities of my accommodation arrangements was staying at Chateau Beachside instead of the convention hotel.

I made it work with some help from my friends. I'm especially grateful for Warbrin, Tyro, Tucker, and Gauge to use their rooms as a fursuit base when I wanted to fursuit. I couldn't have done it without their help. Warbrin and Tryo helped me out on the fursuit walk too. Silver Sheep's debut for FurDU and I had no idea his thermal levels and what to expect. Silver Sheep is a much warmer fursuit than Braxton, and I was sweltering and ended up having to take off my head (Silver's) until the volunteers organised the group photo. Warbrin made sure I got back to the convention hotel before anything serious happened to me. I am grateful to have friends like Tyro and Warbrin to look after me while suiting. I've only had a few years under my belt with fursuiting, and while I'm not a total newbie to it, I still have things to learn.

I have to shout out, Zaroski for inviting me to his small room party and making me feel welcome during the convention. I was feeling a bit off one night, and he made sure that I was included. I even got a chance to get my meme photo with Luvtail on the last day of the convention that was fun too. Normie and Lord Darius gifted me a bottle of Mudgee honey mead too. (Good thing it wasn't on Friday; otherwise, I might have brought back the empty bottle!) It helped that I had a good roommate at FurDU. He was very respectful and put up with my cocktail making and getting wasted on Friday night. It was good to see him beginning to be welcomed back into the scene again.

I overspent in the dealer's den, but Muttasuar, Toxi, EDS and Gaia were all too tempting. I had also promised Peri that I'd get our commission organised in the dealer's den. It's on the way. I picked up a new lavender fursuit spray, too, for my sheep. I'm proud that I didn't pick up a new fursuit head like three of my friends. I would have been in real trouble then. Ha. My regret with the dealer's den was not tracking down Emufur and just saying hello. I had commissioned some art from her before the convention instead of at it. I was sad we couldn't fursuit in the dealer's den, especially when Muttasuar wanted to see more Braxton. Ugh, but covid rules are a thing.

I was so glad I came to the dead dog dance and cut loose for a bit. The magic FurDU feeling had finally come back by then. I didn't even have my camera out; I only got a few photos, just a handful. I think my main thing was I let anxiety stop me from just chilling. It's no one's fault but my own. Next year they are moving to a new venue, and I'll be angling to get a room at the convention hotel and doing the drive up with Warbrin and Tyro again, fingers crossed.

It has been a while since I made a journal. I have been keeping busy the first part of September by drawing some art. I'm not an artist but I am having a go. I've been enjoying  kemira's streams on their Subscribe Star Discord channel. The dudes on there are a hoot. I've got some art from them that should be finished soon. I'm pretty stoked that Kemira digs Silver Sheep. I'll share it one here as soon as it's past the posting embargo.

As far as events and such, I've been staying in Katoomba. I've been having fursuit withdraws and craving a proper fursuit outing. Corona has ruined plans for everyone so I can't be too sad. I must admit to going crazy last month and getting some art from Silvixen and Muttasaur. The Silvixen piece is going to star Braxton and the Muttasaur piece is an NSFW reference sheet for Macchiato Coyote. I'm making the best of 2020 by spending some cash with some of my favourite artists.

My interaction with the furry scene has retreated to online for the most part due to The Virus. I do miss the events, but it's going to be a long time before we can start them. Instead of getting sad, I decided to support some of the local and not so local furry artists by getting commissions. I love the art scene and being able to get some new art is always fun.

I saw an excellent opportunity to support Kemira on SubscribeStar. I saw the link on his FA and investigated. I saw that his monthly drawing tier was open and grabbed it. I regret missing out on Skyler's sketch per month tier when she migrated to SubscribeStar. I have a document packed full of commission ideas for Skyler that I should cull back a bit. I've been a bit of a lurker on Kemira's art, watching his skills grow and even reading his short stories that he writes to go with his commissions. The SubscribeStar deal is a kind of art subscription in a sense. I hope his move to full-time artist pans out for him.

I try to get into these group chats even the Skyler's Subscribe Stars and that, but I often feel like the outsider. I don't think I'm a group chat person I feel like I'm annoying or irrelevant most of the time. The only telegram group that I liked was the group chat my ex set-up. That's long gone, but I did enjoy that one because I knew most of the people in it. It can't be helped I have to realise I am not one of those telegram kids.

I'm getting a new character, a border collie named Kassius. He is a character that I will pair up with Silver Sheep as his foil or antagonist. He works for "Hypnotic Herders" communist sheep land's version of the KGB. He has his eyes on Silver who he has a crush on that plays out in "interrogation" sessions or just letting himself into his apartment. I've got a few characters who interact with Braxton but none who interact with Silver.

Kassius was taken from his family when he was 14 by the Hypnotic Herders when his hypnotic powers activated. The Hypnotic Herders operates like a secular cult cutting off all access from the outside world for its members until they have graduated their ideological education program. They have many different departments but Kassius found his calling in the interior ministry. Their function is to locate political opponents or other malcontents in the armed forces and civilian population and eliminate it through reeducation. Kassius, now 22, has hypnotic eyes that he uses to interrogate prisoners. Once he has a confession he takes to poor dissident to the reeducation prison deep in the mountains. Creatures who enter come out very different. They are converted into double agents or brainwashed into servants of the regime.

Due to his ideological education which involves some brainwashing itself, Kassius is a total fanatic to the one-party state and sees nothing wrong with what he does. Indeed he, feels what he does is for the political prisoners' own benefit. He meets Silver when the ram is returning from a cross border hook up with some werewolves. After a hypotonic interrogation, he finds out the ram isn't selling state secrets but only meeting with the werewolves for purely carnal reasons. Kassius become obsessed with Silver using his position to stalk Silver and keep tabs on him. Kassius drives Silver's cross-border hook-ups away more out of jealousy than anything. He hopes to one day have Silver love him but he goes about "dating" in all the wrong ways.

Greetings from the COVID-19 bunker.

I'm dubbing 2020 as the year that never was. Many people have had their jobs slashed, their events cancelled both big and small. I'm feeling the pain with my social live on hold for a few months. The worry that just going out could expose myself and my at risk dad to a deadly plague grinds on the nerves. I do consider myself lucky to have an income through this thing. My local town's economy has been trashed. All the people who rely on our tourist trade are hurting. It's going to take time for people to recover from the economic effects of this pandemic alone.

I'm not going to sugar coat it; this social distancing stuff has been grinding me down. I'm finding myself feeling down and on my worse days not even bothered to shower. It's just my usual social events not even just the furries but the small gay group I'm in had to shut up shop. I have my dad but I can't talk too much to him besides small talk. I'm still pretending I'm straight and all. I'm not in a good place but it's not as bad as some who have no income or are workings in retail or the health sector. I need to toughen up because people have it worst than me. Suck-it-up butter-cup. It's not to say I know my fiends love me as much as I do them. I just need that face-to-face time.

Okay, enough about COVID-19. I've been getting Silver Sheep out of his box and doing some Facebook streams. I've worked out a good setup for streams. I'll have to get Braxton on at some point. I've still doing furry things and buying some art. Look out for a new comic staring Silver Sheep for a change. I'm glad to support Sam again. This is the third and largest comic that I've commissioned from Sam. Their work is fabulous. The US dollar is a bit meh right now so I haven't been splurging with overseas art commissions. Although, KiwK has been my impulse buy artist.

I hope things improve before the year ends it seems we're in this for the long haul.

I have heaps of news going into the new year. First off I broke up with my boyfriend. I won't go into why here because I already had a rant about it elsewhere. I'm single but not ready to mingle. In more positive news is my new suit from Hunni Bear. Here's a photo of Silver Sheep. I'm delighted with my new baa. I never thought that I would have him made because of the metal effect I envisioned for his wool, and not many fursuit makers have examples of sheep. Hunni Bear did a fantastic job making my sparkle boy. He shimmers in the sun, and he is a baa through and through.

I picked up some more art for Christmas. A new comic from Sam AKA Frosted Monster. It's a comic featuring Braxton and Macchiato Coyote. I love Sam's art, and Frosted Monster is always great to work with. Check out Lewd Laser Tag here. Braxton is a cheeky fox who comes up with fun games to play.

I feel blessed I have good friends in my life they have been helping through my troubles lately. The weekend at Decemfur was a real pick me up. I desperately needed that love and support. I will have to work on returning that love and support. I'll have to try to catch up with my friends in January when people are on their holiday break. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I didn't know what to expect from NeonFUR this year. With the location change to Coolangatta and another hotel change I really didn't know what to expect. For a start, I'll like to talk about the new location. It was close to the airport so that reduced taxi fares and time for transport. It was a much chiller vibe than Serfer's Paradice. There were no night club hawkers annoying you and the like. There was still the beach and plenty of restaurants nearby but not as many activities for people to do.

The hotel itself was more vintage but the rooms were clean and I enjoyed the fan plus aircon combination in the rooms. The function rooms, headless lounge worked well and the small dealer's den ran on all three days. There was a pool and spa and a water slide. The hallways were not airconditioned though which was a downside. Another downside was the lack of a hotel bar.

NeonFUR has always been about hanging with your friends and this year was no exception. The amount of fun you have is tied to how many of your friends are attending. I wouldn't recommend NeonFUR to new furries as their first convention or furs who don't know many other people in the fandom. I'd imagine you'd have a hard time having fun if that was the case. I spend most of my time hanging out with my friends and exploring. I'm glad they went away from the build your own con thing this year by having some panels. It was a welcome change.

I was glad that I bought my fursuit with me. I could only take short stints in my suit due to the heat on Saturday but I got more time in my suit on Saturday. They could have done more things to coax fursuiters out of their rooms, for example, have an organized photoshoot, fursuit walk or fursuit games. The dance raves on Saturday and Sunday brought out the fursuiters though. Most of the time there was this fursuit shyness with people waiting to see others suiting before doing it themselves. I didn't end up taking many photos due to this but I was fursuiting a lot myself.

I recommended using the group chat to organize photoshoots and fursuit events. The themed photo shoots didn't happen as far as I know. My boyfriend Lexy helped get a few furs together for an unofficial fursuit walk to the state border monument and to the beach the next day. You really had to be proactive to get stuff happening. It was a bit isolating that there wasn't an event to bring everyone out of their rooms. It's a thing that an event like FurJAM has with its park meet up that NeonFUR doesn't.

I did enjoy myself. I'm glad that NeonFUR is moving out from the Godzilla shadow of FurDU and making a name for itself. I think it's NeonFUR's main problem, furs expect FurDU from a totally different event. There was a bit of salt and drama floating about surrounding NeonFUR. I made the decision that I wouldn't let that dampen my enjoyment of the convention. I went to NeonFUR with the expectation I was going to enjoy a weekend with my friends and that's what I did.

I am still getting over my Con Crud, but I thought I'd do a write-up for FurDU this year. FurDU was an extraordinary event for me this year for two reasons. The first being it was the first time attending the convention with a boyfriend and the second being it was the first time fursuiting at FurDU.

Fursuiting is a challenge on logistics, my body and also cuts into my photo time. Having said that I wish I could have suited more. I loved being Braxton, and it was a magical experience. Many things came together to make my experience run smoothly.

My friends made this event happen for me and reduced my stress levels so much. I had help from Warbrin and Stripes Tiger with the logistics of transporting Braxton. Warbrin also lent me his fan to use as a head dyer. I wouldn't have been able to suit as much without the fan.

I have never felt so well supported by a group of people. Lutrus was a lifesaver for the fursuit walk. He stuck with me for the whole time and made sure I made it back in time. Kai Long did some emergency repairs on Braxton twice at FurDU once just before the fursuit walk after a mishap at the EDS maker shoot.

Without the support of the beautiful people in this fandom, I'd wouldn't have had a good time. One highlight of the convention was fursuiting with Mac and chatting with him a bit. He was having a rough time with his accommodation, and I hope that I helped with that the best I could.

I got some partying done starting with Bowen's room party on Wednesday night, continuing with 11pm fursuiting in the lobby on Thursday night, Mosky's dance rave on Friday night, Draggo's room party on Saturday night (That didn't get shut down) and more dancing on Sunday night. I was all partied out on Monday.

I totally went nuts in the Dealer's Den blowing my budget entirely so much, so I had to transfer more money from my savings to pay for my hotel room. Having said that I didn't get into debt or anything. I love to support my arts and all that.

It was good spending some time with Lexy. He was being more of a photographer than me this year. I did get some photo time in but not as much as the previous years. I did get much more socialising in, catching up with many different people and going to more dinners and lunches with people.

I have learnt a few tricks with fursuiting that will make life easier for me next year. My planning worked well, and I'm glad to have listened to the advice from veteran fursuiters. I'm looking forward to next year.

I've got a new boyfriend! He's  lexythedeer here on FA. I've been hunting this deer for a while now. I took a trip to Melbourne in February and we had our birthdays together. I loved spending time with Lexy so we decided to do a thing and start dating. I wanted a man in my life for a while so it's great to snag one.

Braxton is still being made into a fursuit. My maker has contacted me and said if I get my DTD in before the end of the month there's a chance I can have the full suit ready before FurDU. I'm hoping that's the case I want to be a fursuiter. Braxton will be good for me a new foxy side of my personality.

In art news, I've got a few pieces on the way. A piece from Muttasaur with Wenzel Bardawulf and Braxton. A piece from Toxi De Vyne that's a clothing reference for Wenzel Bardawulf. Another piece I'm excited about is a YCH I nabbed with a few others from Holiday AKA Wolfmawler on Twitter. It's a purely adult piece so a can't describe it here but it's going to be great.

I'm gearing up for FurDU 2019. In the meantime, I'm doing Ironfest in Lithgow as my next furry weekend event. I'm looking forward to FurDU so much because It's going to be my fursuiting debut and I get to see my boyfriend Lexy again.
