And now it's not even 2024 any more!
Posted 3 months agoAt least I realized quite early on that I needed to make a new journal this time! It would've been here sooner but work and stuff happened, at least it's not in March.
I really do quite like to make a check each year to see what has happened. It's a decent way of remembering that stuff did indeed happen even though it felt like the year just flew by.
Comms this year was a rather staggering 59. So indeed a new record. 69 if you count my own pics. (NICE.)
Number of new characters, err... 21. With one being a redesign so 20. And one is the same character with different forms so 18. I don't THINK there's an overlap where I might have counted an upload for this year of a character I got last year but it's not impossible. So 18 is likely quite right. It's pretty much the same thing as last year, getting good adopts has been a lot easier than ychs or comms.
I dunno about others but to me an adopt usually feels just as nice as a comm or ych. Gives me an opportunity to play with lore and expand on things, I really do like it.
I also didn't expect my plans for the poke/digi verse I'm playing with to grow like it did. I think 90% of the new characters are going there and the other 10% yet another thing far down the back burner.
I've sorta found a format for the Poke/Digi world that I really like the prospect of but it'll be a lot of trial and error before I have any idea if it'll work or not. It's fun tho so there's that.
I've written quite a bit more on Lux's story. I did the same thing I did with the main Stitched Tails story where I sorta wrote myself into a corner with a scene and setting I felt didn't quite make sense the way I wanted. It was a lot easier to re-write the story for Lux tho as it's not as grand and slow moving so there's less to change. I actually managed to get to a point where my planning was quite vague. That's a good thing imo, I rarely get that far. I wouldn't say I'm in the middle of it, but like 2/5:ths the way. Unfortunately both the summer and winter this year has been shite so I haven't been out walking as much as I usually do or I would've had a better idea of exactly I want to happen in the story at this point. It's at least the only thing that I'm "properly" writing atm so if I do feel like writing again it'll be Lux's story. Stitched Tails is more like, a project car sitting in the corner, whispering about how much potential it has. What, everyone doesn't have a project car waiting for funds? Oh well-
The new design is for Raleigh, the Caribou. Very few liked her powered up form and I sorta grew to not like it as much. Just like the design she had before that, which was two wolves. BUT now she's back to being a wolf, sorta, a large Fox. I really do like that design, it looks awesome, she got a bit of character development at the same time which is good.
Florence got two new pics, poor thing hadn't gotten a pic in three years! Fireball needs something new. Solitude got an adorable crimbus pic. Robyn REALLY needs something as she has no pic at all. Why? I got the impression nobody really liked her, and her physique is really specific so I can't ask anyone. Iris needs a new pic but I think that'll be quite easy. Sigrid and her new "friend" Freya will probably get a duo pic...I just don't want to kill someone with that many spots... Kitsu needs art too but that'll also be easy. Reine DEF needs art this year, it's SNEK year! So maybe Hebi will come along on that too, who knows.

Or more specifically, the a continuation of the first pic! It's a shame I'm a bit of a coward about my own creations. I would've gotten more Digsune pics if their ref wasn't meh and it feels weird asking for Chakutori from people I don't know. I still don't get how people can be so casual about asking for the lewdest of lewds from people they barely know lol.
Other than that I don't think there's been a lot of fun stuff going on on the art front. Lots of comms, lots of characters, but they all have their own page for questions and whatnot so I don't feel like that belongs here. Overall it's been a decent year, work is still eh, I've almost paid off my new car so no major events *knock on wood*.

Posted a year agoSo I have my journal on the front page and for some reason I've been looking at it for the past months like "It's nice to be done with the journal for this year.".
And then it struck me that hey, that's last years journal and I need to make a new one! So, here's the journal for the new year, in March, because I'm stupid.
There's been a lot of things going on at work, I won't go into details but my desire to write things has been low. I've done some, but very little. Spring usually brings with it some new energy so hopefully that'll happen this year as well. Winter has been shite this year, super cold. Lots of snow but it's been too cold to do anything so it's generally been a slow year.
Last journal I mentioned that I wanted a new design for Lillivan, well she did get one a week later and she's still rocking it to this day so I'd call that a great success. Furball did a great job at it, quite evident by the fact that it's the design she's had the longest without tweaking now and that it's the one that has the most comms already.
I've actually for the very first time sold a character. Yes you heard that right, after all these year this one will be the first one where I go -1!
...or well, it would be but I MIGHT have gone ham on new characters instead. I've finally managed to realize not just one, but TWO custom species this year, so I guess that's what I felt like writing about. I really do love them both, I loved making them and while I don't have any ideas right now they are unlikely to be the last ones. On top of that I've made THREE hecking characters myself, so five designs in total.
You'd think then that it would be a calm year for adopts but you'd be wrong... 7.
Yes, I have 7 more characters now... Things got out of hand. I've also had zero luck with YCHs all year but a shitload of luck on adopts instead. The new ones are: Aska, Raimei, Kitsu, Quenby, Scrappy and Bernadette. Where's the seventh? She's just a bid on an auction atm so no name. So 11, 12 if I do win that adopt later tonight. Which explains these next bits:
Total uploads seems to be 53 which is really good considering last year was my record year with 36 or so. Also, Yuuyatails Lux comm is now my most favorited. Lux had a superb year this year.
Future plans? Same as last year, write more. I'll probably work more on custom species and stuff as that was super fun.

New year, new journal!
Posted 2 years agoEach and every time I look at these journals I say to myself: You should make a journal, the previous one is OLD.
So, here's a journal! A status update of sorts, to let people know that I am indeed alive.
I didn't feel like I had gotten a whole lot of art this year but after a quick check I came to the conclusion that this has been my year with the most uploads. There's been some older art but still. I've always thought that I get one comm each month, at best. Turns out it's a lot more, the more you know.
This year saw the introduction of Eri, a new design for Lillivan, Widget, Robin, Cirrus, Raleigh and a new ref for Lili.
Widget and Eri are both going to get tossed into a future project. Raleigh is the new design for an existing character. Which means Robin and Cirrus are this years "extra" characters which I can very much live with. Especially since I spent no money on Robin as I drew her myself, and Cirrus did not break the bank.
I've had a few prior years with a much higher "extra character" spending.
I'm still not entirely sure about Lillivan's new design, could use some tweaking. And that's about it on the character changes/additions.
I'm still writing Stitched Tails. I'm also writing the story for Lux, which will have a much more casual writing style. I enjoy writing like that a lot more so I'm currently working more on that. Unfortunately, when I was in the most effective writing zone, work decided to do a stupid and my momentum was lost.
As for art I've started working on an old spriting project again but nothing other than that.
Future plans are quite simple. Write more, get more art. No change in approach and nothing major planned so far really.

I've tried a more task-focused way of commissioning for about six months now. There's been a couple of ups and a couple of downs associated with it. I've come to realize that I'm not the right person to get the things I want to be done, well, done.
In all honestly, it worked rather shit and I feel personally responsible for that right now. Might sound a bit harsh but looking back at the results I've had and that's all I see, setbacks. To the point of "I need to do something else." just to stop thinking about it.
On the plus side, I'm very used to that by now so I'm rather effective at new beginnings. Or, tweaking stuff with a stiff upper lip rather. If you haven't noticed yet this is very ranty so I'll cut myself short.
I'm going to rethink my future strategy again.
And I don't really know how yet.
I think I'll shift over to aim for a more talkative kind of art. I want statements, stories, and context. The shit I've been failing at earlier I'll simply have to come to terms with having to do by myself one way or another.
I was briefly tempted to make something like reverse YCHs but I've lost faith, there's no motivation for that left. I'll tinker with my ideas until I have enough of them to run into an opportunity for them rather than trying to make opportunities.

Posted 5 years agoSo, with my budget checked over I have made a to-do list. And I figured I'd make it public here so I can hopefully give it to people or answer questions if anyone has those. So here's a list of things I've got planned for each character and a little extra:
Maribelle (Sheep):
For Mari I'm quite saisfied with the amount of comms I have for her atm but I also thnk she's by far the easiest to throw into sporadic ideas too. So I'm quite open for suggestions. I am trying to get her into a scenic pic with a punny jacket on. Something that has been annoying me a little though is her hair, it's a little undefined, I'd like to try some hairstyles for her. She could also use a new ref.
Fireball (Manticore):
After I got that super amazing pic from Jeso I realized I should really iron out her new design to look like that, so she needs a proper ref and is on top of the prioritized ref sheets. She could also use a new comm, something leaning towards an action pose.
Florence (Dragon):
Florence design sort of looks awesome regardless of style, so while I want to give her a ref I really want to give her a comm. I want to showcase her fighting style a bit, some kun fu poses or similar.
Hellcat (Demon cat):
Still needs a picture at all so I can gauge where I want to take him. Open for whatever fits pretty much.
Iris (Goat):
I haven't got the "response" on her that I wanted. I want to simplify and make her design a bit different. My plan is to take her a little more evil and a bit more towards succubus. So I want to simplify her markings, give her horns, maybe paws instead of hooves and iron out her physique properly. That does of course require a ref...
Lillivan (Rabbit):
After I got to play around with Teranens base I think I might try and get her a pic looking like it. Not a huge loss if I don't though, I don't know how much people like her really.
Flannery (Succu zebra/Kirin):
Now that I have Mixis pic to iron out her physique all she needs is a pic.
Fanfare (Lil Horse):
I need to give her a pic. I currently have no idea what she might be doing without Flannery tbh.
Hebi (Snake):
Needs a new pic, I have some ideas but most importantly I need to accentuate his feminine physique better. I also want to bully the heck out of the snek with all the kinky stuff.
Solitude (Snow leopard):
No changes, I really like what she has become, she needs pics and I really like pinups of her.
Others:
I have two custom races I want to make. With what artist? No idea atm... I have some ideas but I'm too nervous to ask them atm lol. I'm also going to make a short bio for every character what their stance on lewd stuff is, to make it very easy to glance over for people who wants to collab with me in some way.
And that's about it atm, I'll update this as I go.

Posted 5 years agoOr, Excuse the mess, we're renovating.
I really need to make more journals, the previous one is a year old now, people might think I'm dead!
So! As many of you may already have realized I'm mainly a commissioner rather than an artist. That doesn't mean I don't work with my own stuff but when I first got here I didn't really expect to start commissioning as much as I am now. Early on I decided to keep within a monthly budget not to go overboard and ruin myself but I realized I never actually checked if I kept it or not. I just had a hunch that I had spent around a certain amount each month.
So, I decided to analyze my spendings a bit now before the task becomes too gigantic. So I have sorted every comm I've ever gotten on a rather substantial google sheet. The result is quite interesting, here are some tidbits:
I did manage to almost keep witing the budget goal I had set. I'm not going to say any exact numbers I've spent so far but it is just shy of the cost of my daily driver car! Then again my daily is my cheapest car now so that doesn't say a lot.
Maribelle has the most comms. Big shocker! She's clocking in at 20+ and she also has the lowest average comm price, so she's an efficient sheep that one.
Fireball is second on the amount of comms she has, and she is also second on the average price per comm.
Florence has the most expensive average. Bling durg deserves only the best.
Not much to say about Solitude, Flannery, Hebi, and Fanfare. They are rather even and with a couple of comms at around the same price.
Amber has the least amount of total comms, I'll get to that later.
Iris is also interesting, she has by far the biggest amount of unfinished comms. The value of the unfinished ones are higher than all of Ambers put together.
It also shows other characters not yet shown AND how much I've been scammed, and it's not really happy numbers...
So what was the idea of all this? I'm going to try and focus on balancing this a little. But I also realize that people actually do want to see some characters more than others, SO I think I might start doing polls in the future as well as balancing on my own. I also had a vision of trying to type commission ideas as well to have easily accessible for feedback and for artists to see but at the moment I have to realize I'm nowhere near that big on visitors for that to work, but it's a fun idea.

Posted 7 years agoOK, so today I tried something new. I decided to go to bed early as heck and go up early too, as in 3Am early. That way I'd be able to stream at the same time as a the majority of streamers and people are online. Great idea, doesn't work... Even if I did stream for two hours the amount of work I got done was what I usually do in one. So I've decided that I will aim to stream at a reasonable time for me instead, since the off chance of a multi just isn't worth the bother it is.
The catch 22.
Posted 7 years agoThe catch 22 of being "modest" about your work (Or whatever I'd call it that I am.) is that most of the time it goes unnoticed and you feel bad for it. But when I try to boast stuff up and advertise I feel like a major a-hole later and you feel bad for that instead...
Well, at least that's what I think is happening because god darn it I start working on stuff and make progress but there's just no joy there anymore. Had some 2 hour streaming sessions but I just felt lost.
I have brought myself back to earth with my ambitions in a much more subtle way than I usually end up with so I don't think it's that this time.
I think it's my attention span the messes with me again, I've made the mistake of getting other ideas along side and it's probably sapping more motivation from my main stuff than I realize. Heh, when all this is said and done I'll have to compile a step by step list on how to do big projects, or rather how NOT to do em. Not such a bad idea tbh. Posted 8 years agoI really need to update this way more often but such is my days, uneventful. If anyone read the last journal it said I was going on vacation and that my throat hurt.
But like always, large quantities of beer (somehow) made the sore feeling disappear! For two weeks at least, and then it came back.
Called a doctor and they said "Can you breathe?" and I could indeed breathe obviously as I was speaking to them on the telephone...
So they booked me a time.
Without telling me when...
One and a half month later there's quite the pain and I call them again and again and eventually I get to see a doctor who says I've got angst issues?? That's our healthcare in a nutshell, "I dunno, give him antidepressants and he will leave." I gave a blood sample and it came back OK, something I was told three weeks after my visit... By this time I had asked some friends who are studying to become doctors what they thought and they both said "Sounds like high blood pressure due to stress.".
And so, lo and behold all this fucking time that I was worried about what the heck was wrong, that worrying itself was the cause... Our healthcare, had made me unhealthy...

One and a half month later there's quite the pain and I call them again and again and eventually I get to see a doctor who says I've got angst issues?? That's our healthcare in a nutshell, "I dunno, give him antidepressants and he will leave." I gave a blood sample and it came back OK, something I was told three weeks after my visit... By this time I had asked some friends who are studying to become doctors what they thought and they both said "Sounds like high blood pressure due to stress.".
And so, lo and behold all this fucking time that I was worried about what the heck was wrong, that worrying itself was the cause... Our healthcare, had made me unhealthy...
Yay, Journals!
Posted 8 years agoSo I figured that I might as well start using the journals here. I know from my time on DA that my discipline on using journals frequently is... Err, bad.
Well, regardless!
So my streaming plans has gone to shit for two weeks straight now. Work has come in the way and I'm sad to have to be the realistic bloke and says that work goes before art. Or streams at least...
I haven't been slacking entirely though, got the dirty work for a big pic done. So there's at least some materials that I can show on stream.
As I was walking the dog one day I had this neat idea of converting multiple photos into a background, it would've saved me a crapload of time if it would've worked the way I wanted, but after wasting tens of hours I've now realized that it won't be so easy.
I've got one more thing I want to try, or two rather but I want to finish the picture first.
Now while that sounds good and dandy I'll be working this week. And next week...
And I'll be on vacation after that. So while I haven't updated anything in a while, there won't be anything happening for quite another while I'm afraid.
At least that's how I want it to play out, I think I'm getting sick. And not like, sick for a few days either. I've had some bad feelings for three weeks now. BUT, I think it's getting better. Or I'm getting used to it... Well, If I don't turn up ever again, know that I will probably have died with a cold beer in my hand, so there's no need to grieve.
