So this morning I woke up at 7am to the sound of my dogs barking as paramedics were coming into the house. Turns out my dad had woken up and begun vomiting blood

His girlfriend was with him, so she phoned the ambulance and made sure he was okay. After checking him over he still wasn't feeling well, and they took him into hospital.


Speaking of which, the goddam staff on his unit hung up without speaking to me when I phoned to ask about his condition. After being on hold another ten minutes to tell them how absolutely livid I was, I finally managed to get an update.


His condition is stable and he's safe; he's been taken off A&E and moved to another unit to stay the night. He's waiting an getting a camera scope going inside him to confirm, but they believe he has a bleed in his oesophagus or stomach caused by alcohol intake.


Good news is he's said he's taking it as a wakeup call, but I know him to be bratty & stubborn in the long run. I've taken all the alcohol in the house into a canvas bag, and I'm making him throw it away when he gets back. Any alcohol he brings into the house after that, I'm smashing with a hammer into the drain, and I don't care how angry he gets.


Needless to say, this has all been very scary, but things are stable. For now

Last night in my home, there was some family drama that finally boiled over after years in the making, and I walked out of the house without telling anyone where I was going, and didn't come back that night.


I'm back now, but only for a couple of days, and I don't know what's going to happen after that.



I'll be okay, and this isn't a call for help or a journal begging for money or anything, it's just to let you guys know that there may be some disruptions with content and commissions, just because I need my desktop PC to draw anything, which is obviously not something I can easily pick up and carry away with me.


Nothing's been cancelled, as that wouldn't be professional; and I'll be spending the next couple days drawing things anyway. If there's any development to the situation that will cause gaps in content being made, I'll let you guys know in another journal entry.

I haven't been getting as many shifts at Costa as I'd like, and my income has taken a hit.

So I've decided to put more resources towards making commissions, and to do that, I'm gonna restructure my pricing scheme a little.


To start with, I'm gonna charge accordingly to whether people want a sketch, lineart, base colours, etc, like a lot of other artists do.

I haven't decided on exact figures yet, I'm going to wait until I'm back home, so that I can put together an actual price sheet.


Still going to include backgrounds in the base price for each picture, unless requested otherwise by the client. I'll also keep an extra charge for extra characters in the pic, but again, prices aren't fixed yet.


Come to that, what prices would you be willing to pay for commissions from me? I'm doing market research to determine a good going rate, but never feel comfortable putting a price on my own drawings.

Due to medical reasons, I cannot currently work at my main job, which I rely on as my primary source of income. I should be able to claim it back on sick-leave, but as I've yet to get a note from my doctor for this, and I don't know how much longer I'll be out of work for, my situation isn't exactly stable.

I have some money saved away, but I feel like I should do what I can in the meantime to make sure I can still put towards covering my share of the bills at the house.
