Happy New Years
Posted 3 years agoI probably have some followers here, for whatever reason. One of my new years resolutions was to work more on writing more and getting the backlog of commissions and gifts and such I've gotten uploaded. It's not going to be a deluge of stuff but, you know, keep an eye out. Baby Steps and all that.
Also if you like the art I commission, check the links to the artists themselves

A Real, Kind of Serious Question
Posted 7 years agoSo this is a question that popped up in a discord server, and it seems like a generally good question.
The subject of Doug Winger came up. For those not in the know, DOug Winger was a rather popular furry artist that did a lot of herm/futa furry art, mostly hyper, with a good deal of cheesy comedy mixed in.
You can see a lot of it on his Furaffinity account here.
And notice I said was? Well, that’s because, unfortunately, Doug succumbed to COPD about three years ago. Doug, though I never met or chatted with him, was kind of formative in the deviant I am today, it was the first herm and hyper stuff I saw, and I liked the cheesy jokes and stupid puns and everything.
A lot of Doug’s stuff was art of popular characters (You will see a lot of Minerva Mink, for those old enough to remember her) but he also had a fair number of characters folks liked like Pandora the naughty hyper herm dog.
Anyways, the question that came up is this.
Is it disrespectful to still get fan art of someone’s characters after they have passed? Is it wrong to pay tribute like that?
I’m personally of the mind that it’s a good thing as long as you don’t do something with their characters that they didn’t do, treat the characters with the respect their creator did.
but I’m interested in seeing what folks think about this. So, if you are an artist, commissioner or otherwise someone who owns an OC who is, for whatever reason, following me…What do you think?

Head-Canon Corner
Posted 7 years agoJust some random head-canons I felt like stating...
[t]Knuckles is a treasure hunter out of necessity[/t]
It's a lesser addressed part of his character, but bit by bit Knuckles has been known as a Treasure Hunter since the OVA, but why would he? And when would he have the time when he's supposed to be guarding the Master Emerald? Because he had to.
Let's take a look at Angel Island. Full of ancient, often crumbling ruins, vastly overgrown, dangerous environmental hazards, and all alone on it is Knuckles, from the age of who knows how young. He'd need to the skills of Indiana and Lara just to survive foraging for food.
Of course, that also means, in addition to some of the most prime real estate in the world (Not only beach front and every other type of biome you may like, but how do you beat the privacy of "IN THE FUAKKIN' SKY!"?) but he has almost sole access to the treasures of his clan, but probably nothing to do with it until SOnic and Co come along. He could be the richest sod of the crew, and way more so than our blue hero, not that it matters because-
[t]Sonic is the poorest dude of the franchise main characters and doesn't care.[/t]
Let's think about this, between Sonic, Eggman, Tails and Knuckles.
Knuckles, as I said before, has pretty much sole access to Angel island and it's treasures. Even if it's not El Dorado, that sort of ancient stuff can fetch a pretty penny, and we see the clan members of Tikals time in gold jewelry, and Tikal's dad went out of his way to conquer and take all he could, probably stockpiling a lot of cool swag.
Eggman, canonically, owns shell companies that sell his tech legitimately, to the point he had a whole city based around it. Hell, his Extreme Gear company doesn't even hide it's connected to him and he can openly advertise a race for it. At this point, his World Domination seems less like he wants to rule (Or seek revenge for his Grandpa on Humanity) and more like he's just rich and has nothing better to do this week (Kinda like Bowser in a way).
Tails could well be on his way to being like Eggman in that effect. We already see him owning workshops and land in multiple cities (Including his own private island). Hell, considering he and Shadow tend to get along rather well, and he gets along decently with both Rouge and Omega, I would bet he not only sells tech, but has some government contracts.
Meanwhile, Sonic, by word of the creators, has no house of his own and drifts on the life of the heroic hobo...and loves it. He prefers to be free and unchained and probably cashes in any good will or hero worship for the occasional free meal.
[t]The Robotnik Family are all closet Furries.[/t]
Gerald was trying to make the "Ultimate Lifeform" and instead of it being a human, which would make sense since it was for the purpose of curing his granddaughter, or alien looking, which would also make sense since it was created from the DNA of tentacle-aliens, he made it into one of the fuzzy folk from planet-side.
You can't tell me Maria wouldn't have been eyeing up that Ultimate Dong in a few years (Maybe Gerald even planned it that way, as the 'cure' administration for her disease.
And NOBODY has yet explained why Eggman himself kidnapped Vanilla. She had no connection to Sonic at all and he nabbed twice in the same game. Hell, you don't even find her in a cell the first time, she's just standing in a flower field, not even distressed. Hell, I'll bet she was fine with it because-
[t]Vanilla is a high class call girl[/t]
Nice house, single parent and no visible income? No problem with her daughter spending hours, days or more away with people known to get into world changing danger? Abducted by an obvious furry for no stated reason and not at all perturbed by it? As if she's been spending time with this rich douche before?
I'm not saying she's some cheap whore, she's a classy, high priced, classy woman and worth every penny. And she pulls it all off in a stately manner and well dressed to boot. Rouge wishes she had that kind of charm.
Thank you for listening to my mad ramblings, I'm off to find more conspiracy.

Obligatory Sonic Forces opinion
Posted 7 years agoSo...Sonic Forces came out...
I've seen opinions that it is an awesome game, that it is a terrible travesty.
It's...a good game. I'm not gonna say it's great or perfect, or that there arne't things it could have done better, but having finished the entire main game (Havn't got to do Episode Shadow yet), I will say it is a solid game...And since I'm a Sonic fan, I suppose I have to give an explanation, otherwise people will just say I'm some idiot diehard fan who will take any shit with a Blue Hedgehog in it. I will try and break this down as best I can.
Spoilers will follow.
First off is a complaint. I got the PC port on Steam, and for those who don't know, the FMV's on the PC port are bugged. It doesn't effect gameplay, but...It's the first thing you see on starting a game, how do you not catch that?
Moving on...
The levels are fun. Some are somewhat standard, for a 3d Sonic game, but fun none the less.
I would say Modern Sonic's levels are in a way, the weakest. Not to say they can't be fun, but most of them are on the tracks run forward with a lesser nod towards platforming. Modern SOnic's levels are usually the quickest and are a lot of Boost to Win until later in the game where roughshod boosting can send you flying off the edge. Modern Sonic stages are also playable as Shadow, but the only difference seems to be cosmetic (Unless I missed something, I didn't play as Shadow much, feel free to tell me if I am wrong).
Classic Sonic has 2d levels made to look 3d, of course, and they have more branching paths up and down. They play a bit more like actual classic sonic levels and usually seem to have at least three paths that criss-cross each other.
Avatar Levels, that is the levels for your OC, seem to have the most replay-ability, and this is because of something I will talk about when I cover the Avatar system.
There are also a few levels where Modern Sonic and the Avatar team up. These levels are more akin to the Modern Sonic levels with some of the Avatar variability I will elaborate on in the Avatar section.
The main uniting theme between the levels, style aside, is the enemies. The game itself has two difficulty settings, Normal and Hard, and the main difference in this is how hard you get hit. In Normal difficulty, you get his and you lose about 20 rings off your collection, but you are capped on what you can carry at 100 rings max, but most levels have so many rings that Normal should really be called Easy mode.
Hard mode is much more like a Sonic game. You can hold as many rings as you can pick up, but if you get hit, you lose them all (With one exception, mentioned later) and you have to scramble to get them, which I feel is some sort of balance. Normal only loses you 20 rings, but if you can only have your max hundred, it is hard to grab and hold on to your rings, limiting the hits you take. When 200 rings scatter at once, it's easier to nab them.
But all in all, the level itself is more of a threat than the enemies. Most enemies are easy to take care of and are stationary, allowing MSonic to just dash through, CSonic to spin dash or jump on them, or the Avatar to blast or homing attack them, but in my experience, the level itself (Spikes, pitfalls and crushers) are more of a threat, not to say mistiming your dash, or just plain inattentiveness, won't kill you off.
Bosses are few and far between, but they are fun and challenging, although a couple are more mechanically challenging, since lock on can be finicky.
All in all, the levels are fun, overall, and can bring some decent challenges as any character.
One of the major selling points on the game is the ability to make your own Mobian character. Lot of people ended up calling this DeviantArt-The game, but really, I like it. I do wish the body customization was a bit more in depth (Not asking for a titty slider, but some different body styles, maybe addable Stripes/spots/etc. would be nice), the clothing system is a fun little game of dress up (Although the fact that Body is the whole body, instead of having upper and lower body is kinda dorky). You can also choose from a number of different species each with a different passive ability (Although some species are notably absent, like Foxes, Bats and Echidnas. Not even a Chameleon.)
The main variant in your Avatar is the Wispon (Simply a Wisp powered weapon). There are about a half dozen varieties, and it actually adds a special level of replay value to the Avatar stages, considering the wispon has different power moves you can use when you find a wisp, allowing for different styles of exploration with each weapon.
That said, when dealing with most normal enemies, the wispons are very much overpowered and a few even just wipe all enemies off the screen, where as, with a few exceptions, most of them are weak against bosses when compared with your homing attack (Although some are still super powerful on bosses, when you can hit them with it). This means they kinda trivialize normal enemies and are almost useless against bosses, but higher level Wispons also have buffs (Start level with a shield, speed boost on landing, temporary invincibility upon getting 100 rings) that can be helpful or hurtful, but can further vary the play style.
Music is actually pretty solid. Really all I have to say. only drawback is some levels are too chort to properly hear it all, they might have too much other noise, dialogue, or it might be a Modern Sonic level where the music is softer when you aren't boosting.
Story is, honestly, kind of weak. Not saying it's bad, just rather bland. I feel like they could have played it a bit harder, a bit bleaker, had a couple of boss run in's that will end with an auto-fail to drum up the feel of a war. As someone who was a fan of SatAM, I kinda thought this was going to be more of an actual struggle.
Infinite's design is cool, but as an enemy, is kind of a pansy. Only his last run in is a real challenge and that's more because you have a more strict time limit than any other level. As a character, he's really not anything special, just the cookie cutter "I am strong, you are weak, you lose" and "I can't lose, I am stronger, you got lucky" sort of bullplop.
Eggman...Is Eggman. Really, he's as hammy and great as he always has been. His plan this time around is still pretty effective, and while he makes his usual missteps (Like not killing Sonic first chance he has, which he does have a couple times) he does take over the world and actually comes damn close to a full win. The final boss, one of his mechs, is a serious challenge and, even on normal difficulty, I would have lost if my Avatar wasn't a cat and held onto a single ring if he took a hit with more than one.
Generally a fun game. Some missteps and definitely not perfect, but not as bad as some people want it to be.

Happy Holidays
Posted 8 years agoPartially because I mean it, partially to bump my last journal off my page, but too all of you out there, I wish you well in whatever is making your day, whatever brings us together with love, hope and good tidings, be it religion, tradition or just some fun and games.
Stay together, stay happy, and stay hopeful for the coming year.
Stay together, stay happy, and stay hopeful for the coming year.
The Only Political Journal I Will Post
Posted 8 years agoSo...I am sure even those of you who don't live in the US have seen the swirling cesspit that was this latest US Presidential Campaign. I would just like to say a few things.
That is to say that, while I did vote for one of them, I didn't really feel either was a good choice. I was actually pulling for Bernie Sanders until the Conventions left us with just a pair of dumpster fires as our main candidates. Not to say the other major choices were too spectacular. Each of the main party candidates, to me, respresented some of the deepest problems in our country, be it bad government, bad business, the cold, spooky dead-eyed weasel or the screeching, *&$%-flinging baboon (No offense to any weasels or baboons reading this).
I will admit I voted for the lessor evil, but that is still a vote for evil. And even thought she lost, I am sorry to have voted for evil.
So i didn't even fear this was a thing until I saw a tumblr post last night before bed from an artist I follow, but if there are those of you who are actually contemplating suicide, and listen to me carefully, DON'T DO IT! THAT ANGRY ORANGE CHEETO ISN'T WORTH IT!
I have friends who have had suicidal episodes in the past (And I will admit to more than a couple thoughts on the subject myself) but believe me, it isn't worth it. There are plenty of hotlines I want you to call, which I will now list copy-pasted from that artists tumblr post

Please, just take some time, close your eyes, take some deep breaths, sing something to yourself (I find 'Here Comes A Thought' from Steven universe helps me immensely) and just calm down, because-
We will pull through this. We, as a country, are too strong to be brought down completely by some sac of anger and spray tanner or the most lifelike mannequin you ever did see. If we were to the point either of them could spell our collective doom, we would be in a much worse place.
Things are never as good as you want, but they rarely get as bad as you fear.
So if you are a Trump Stumper (I won't hold it against you) or if you were hittin' for Clinton (Won't hold it against you either) we still have to live together, and we will, for all the bile, the toxic vitrol that this election has spawned, I still prefer to believe we are inherently good people who want to help each other, even if we don't agree on how to do it.
We will survive, as long as we know how to love, I know we'll stay alive...
