Cars broken again
Posted 4 years agoJust wanted to drop in here to say my car is broken again.....it needs a new engine. Head gasket blew at some point and warped some internal components to the point Kia said yeah no replace the whole thing. Thankfully the warranty I purchased will cover the entire repair (almost 7K) and I'm getting a totally new short block v6 from Korea. But I've been driving a rental car since April 15th and my warranty will only cover 10 days. I potentially might be stuck with paying the remainder of that, still trying to seek coverage, but in the event that doesn't work, it'll most likely be almost 4K total. So I've been listing a bunch of plushes on Mercari, figurines and some other small things, I'm planning on selling off some old fursuit parts and stuff planning for a redesign of Stattik. I'm going into the restaurant business! I've landed a job at a local place that serves wood fired pizas, bar food, and some more gourmet items. My background in fresh cheese making and also a cheesemonger helped me get the job. I've wanted to work in a restaurant since I graduated high school, but because I chose to get a job rather than pay for more schooling, that wasn't an option for me. But now, since I started at the bottom bagging groceries when I was 15, I'm now 40 and have management experience and a slew of other talents. I'm pretty much a self taught cook other than some courses in junior and high school, but lets see where this takes me.
I'll be training to go over and help run their new location next summer in Milford MA. So if you're in the area of Hudson MA or Milford MA.....come over and see me at the restaurant :D

Little life update..... New job.... Moving.... Etc!

Two Fridays ago I left work for a mini 6 day vacation. I drove up to MA, and 1/2 way there, my car started to act funny. I had a hole in the muffler so I just thought it had gotten bigger and was making it sound weird. The next day, I checked the oil and it was almost empty. Now I had gotten a full service oil change one month prior to that. I had no idea what the hell happened because there was no signs of any leaks. No oil in the snow under my car, nothing. So I went and bought a few quarts and dumped em in. Also noticed a vacuum hose came disconnected, so I fixed that too. Thought everything would be fine, and headed off to a couple destinations over an hour away. Well.....everything was fine until I got off the highway. The car was really chugging and sputtering bad. Managed to get to where I was going, and despite my anxiety going bonkers, I had a good time. Left there and went to place B. It was close by so got there okay. Now the drive home. Got half way home and stopped for a bathroom stop.... Car basically just shut off on me as I was slowing down. Started it back up, put it in drive, and kept going. Next stop.... It shut off again. Started it back up and kept going. Got onto the highway and put it in cruise control all the way home. Got off the highway, and at every stop, it would shut off. Managed to get it back home (MA home).... But somehow I had to get it back to CT. It was a scary drive, especially through Hartford. It almost died on the highway going 55 through downtown Hartford. Somehow I managed to keep it going, and although it died a few times after exiting the highway (once right in front of a cop).... I managed to get it home.
Took the car to pepboys next to work, and they ran a diagnostic test on it. Came. Back that the car jumped time. So my car is the tardis basically. They said I would need a new engine which parts and labor is close to 6000$.
Now starts the fun......the car in question is a 2012 Chevy Equinox 2.4L I4.....apparently there's a warranty out for the car for damage due to excessive oil usage. But since the car isn't safe to drive due to it shutting off while driving, they can't administer the mandatory oil usage test, which requires me to drive it for 500-1000 miles 2 to 5 times to determine just how much oil the car is burning. Now here in lies the issue.....the chevy dealer can determine what the problem is and repair it..... Out of my pocket..... And then do the oil usage test. If it passes the test..... I'm out whatever I just paid for the repairs. If it fails, I may get that money back and also get the free warranty repair. Basically either getting me a rebuild or a used engine if it's damaged too severly. But here's the kicker..... The used engine is an engine that hasn't broken yet. I say yet because they all break. Some have broken at 25K miles, some have broken closer to 100K miles. You just never know when unless you're dumping 1 or 2 quarts of oil in a week.
So I'm stuck......my car is sitting at a mechanics because they can't make the necessary repairs. They diagnosed it as needing a new engine.....You'd think okay great, a new engine. That's perfect...... But it's not. They'd just be taking out my broken engine and replacing it with an engine that hasn't broken yet. What happens if they replace the engine and 25K miles later that engine goes to pot. Then there's no warranty and I'm sol.
So fast forward to today......basically I still owe 10,000$ on that car and it's a POS paperweight right now. It needs more work than I am willing to pay for. I owe 10 grand on a car that's maybe worth 7500 tops. And that's showroom floor quality. Mine is probably worth a few grand, if that.
So here's where I stand now.....I have to buy a new car. I have a plan..... It's kind of a desperation plan, a desperate times call for desperate measures kind of plan, but I have a plan. I'll be making all sorts of stuff for ANE and FE in hopes I break the bank with my dealers Tables. The car I'm looking to buy is a 2016 Kia Sorento. The car is 19,000$.....my current loan will be added on top of the new loan, minus whatever I can scrounge up got a down payment, and also whatever they give me for a trade in.
This whole thing really sucks but life loves to throw me curve balls every once in a while. I loved that car and I've made some mods to it and had more planned.....but all of that was for nothing. I totally didn't see this coming.
So Tldr..... My car is garbage. I owe 10g's on it still. Have to buy new car. It costs 19G's. Loan total will be almost 30G's minus trade in and down payment. And also buy my shit at ANE and FE, and help me pay for my new car that I totally didn't think I would have to buy but my 6 year old car decided it wanted to be a glorified paperweight and not a car.

Cost : none (besides picnic food lol)
We will meet up at the main paved parking lot around 11:00am, this is a large parking lot so there should hopefully be enough parking for everyone. There is a smaller gravel parking lot a short walk away if needed. There are multiple picnic areas around the park.....but there is a large one a short walking distance past the castle on the banks of the CT river by the boat launch. This is a large grassy area that will fit everyone who attends. Please bring your own packaged picnic lunch.....this could be sandwiches, salads, even if you want to grab McDonalds or Burger King or any fast food....I will not be providing any food and there will be no cooking or bbq's. There is a concession stand up by the parking lot also. Please also bring a blanket to sit on, and anything else you want. There is no alcohol permitted in the park....and if you are spotted with any alcohol you will be asked to dispose of it. Please feel free to bring any lawn games you have including frisbees, footballs, kites, etc. Around 2pm after the picnic area.....the real fun begins. We will throw on our fursuits and head to the castle grounds for some phots and fun. Although the castle will not be open to the public yet (open memorial day weekend).....we can still go up to the lower balcony and as well as the castle gardens and surrounding areas and ponds. And then whatever else after that.....it's a fairly large park area....but please don't stray to far from the group. There are bathrooms in the visitors center by the parking lot if you would like to use them to change into under armour.....suiting up will have to take place at our cars. Feel free to wear your tails and or ears to the picnic area though....or even if you're adventurous you can wear your suit either full or partial. It may be a tad warm this day so do this at your own risk and please stay hydrated. And most importantly.....have fun!
This is a public park so there will be tourists and regular people sharing the park with us.....I'm sure there will be tons of pictures taken and please please please behave and do not spook or scare the other park patrons. Be on your best behavior.....if anyone causes problems for anyone or is out of line....you may be asked to pack up and leave.

New price will be 14$ per person, that will get everyone 2 1/2 hours of bowling and shoes. Please arrive around 6....we will start bowling at 6:30. When you arrive, please stop at the front desk to pay....mention you are with the furries group and they will cash you out. We will hopefully be located in our usual spot down on lanes 37-40 by the bar.
We do not have a headless lounge but feel free to duck into the bar for a break, there usually isn't too many people in there. Also the door to the parking lot is right by the lanes and being winter, it's nice and cold out lol.
There is a snack bar also at the alley, and please drink responsibly if you do visit the bar.
If you choose not to bowl, i ask you please to give the alley some business either in the snack bar or bar. You are technically loitering if you do not and could be asked to leave.
Shoes must be worn on the alley....when you are not bowling you can wear feet paws but while bowling, feetpaws are not allowed per alley rules.
After bowling we will be heading to Sliders sports bar and grille for food and stuff. If you have never been there, they have CT's best wings! Also a great beer selection and also burgers and stuff too if you don't want wings.
Feel free to share the event and invite your friends! I've reserved space for 20 people for now but if it looks like there will be more than that, I will adjust the reservation later on :)

Time:arrive at 6,bowling starts at 630 and goes until 830
Date :Saturday November 11th
New building with bowling lanes, bocce courts, cornhole courts, billiards, arcade machines and more. Price for bowling is 8$ per person per game, and 4$ for shoe rental. They have given me the thumbs up for fursuits, however they will not have a headless lounge but we can store stuff by our bowling lanes like we do at my usual bowling meet... Or suit up at your car because it'll be November and totally cool outside lol. We will start bowling at 6:30....please answer the poll if you will be bowling or not. Afterwards we will go to the Dennys that we go to after the billiards meet. This location is actually right down the street from the billiards place :) There is also a full bistro in the building with a full menu, as well as a full bar with craft beers on tap. Please drink responsibly, and also behave because I'd like to continue having meets here. Invite your friends!

Looking for room for two at mff
Posted 7 years agoI'm looking for possibly a room in the main or close overflow connected by the sky bridge because airbrushing and December weather lol. Circumstances happened and now a good friend of mine and I are staring at a large hotel bill for two people in the comfort down the street. I'm looking to see if I can find someone preferably in the main but a close overflow is okay too that needs a couple of people (bed or floor) to even split room costs with. The flights are already expensive enough, not really wanting this con to cost almost a grand a piece before we even get there. Shoot me a pm if you know of anyone... I'd prefer if it's someone that I actually know so we're not rooming with random people lol
Mini Golf Meet 10/21 cancelled!
Posted 7 years agoI totally forgot that I have a prior engagement that night that I bought tickets for and can't get out of, so I have to cancel the mini golf meet. The only other weekend that it's open is furpoc and that's not going to happen. So there won't be any meets in October, early to mid November I will have another meet, most likely bowling but maybe indoor mini golf :) Stay tuned!

Location : Your Friendly Neighborhood Tabletop Shop

Cost : Purchase a 5$ In-store credit certificate
Time : Start at 6pm....End at 9pm
Date : Friday September 29th
Fursuitting will be allowed....however space is limited in the shop. It is a big place but playing board games or card games in fursuit may be a little difficult. TBH I made this meet to actually deter people from fursuitting and just hang out and to have fun. But if you really want to fursuit, you may do so. There will not be a headless lounge....and being that people are playing card games (hence light cards plus fan equal cards everywhere) there won't be fans everywhere lol. If you do choose to fursuit, please do so at your own risk. We will take a group picture at some point during the meet, or at the end if there are people who decide to fursuit. Please be curteous to the other patrons of the shop that night.
This meet will be held on a friday due to store hours on saturday only being until 6pm. On friday they are open until 10.....they do have a magic tournament on friday nights. If you would like to play in the tournament....you will have to pay the entry fee and also there will be absolutely NO FURSUITS in the tournament. Also....DO NOT bother or harass the people in the tournament. Also please keep the noise and chatter to a low level.....no screaming or yelling. I would like to have this meet again...you don't want to be the one to ruin it for everyone else lol.

Fursuitting will be allowed....however space is limited in the shop. It is a big place but playing board games or card games in fursuit may be a little difficult. TBH I made this meet to actually deter people from fursuitting and just hang out and to have fun. But if you really want to fursuit, you may do so. There will not be a headless lounge....and being that people are playing card games (hence light cards plus fan equal cards everywhere) there won't be fans everywhere lol. If you do choose to fursuit, please do so at your own risk. We will take a group picture at some point during the meet, or at the end if there are people who decide to fursuit. Please be curteous to the other patrons of the shop that night.
This meet will be held on a friday due to store hours on saturday only being until 6pm. On friday they are open until 10.....they do have a magic tournament on friday nights. If you would like to play in the tournament....you will have to pay the entry fee and also there will be absolutely NO FURSUITS in the tournament. Also....DO NOT bother or harass the people in the tournament. Also please keep the noise and chatter to a low level.....no screaming or yelling. I would like to have this meet again...you don't want to be the one to ruin it for everyone else lol.

Possible new furmeet!
Posted 7 years ago The neighborhood tabletop shop in New britain has given me the thumbs up for a furmeet there, fursuits allowed. The owner of the shop runs CT con and they also run the game room for TinyPawsCon and furpocalypse. The price I was given is the purchase of a5$ gift card to the store to play your own personal game or choose one from their library of games. The only time a fursuit would not be allowed is if you choose to join in on a tournament if one is happening on a night we would be there. This would happen on a Friday due to store hours, they steer only open until 6 on weekends. Once I talk to the staff at the store and get done plans in the works, I will post more info.

Posted 7 years agoHey there everyone! Sorry I haven't been on the furmeet circuit in a while.....I took a bit of time away from organizing meets to focus on my business and stuff. Had a pretty incredible dealers table experience at Anthro New England to get my paws wet.....and I ran into some pretty scary health issues that I had to attend to. I'm slowly but surely getting better from that...but I've been getting asked if I am going to host meets again. I didn't know that many enjoyed my meets so much....after the last few that I hosted and attendance dropped down to a handful of people....I pretty much lost interest in hosting. There's been some personal things happen too, dealt quite a blow to my self confidence and just my overall social life. But likewise with the health issues....I'm coming back from that too :) But, all in all, I want to get back to hosting meets again.....I enjoyed it and I enjoyed seeing everyone have a great time (even though sometimes I can't even enjoy my own meet lol...but thems the breaks I guess :P).....so I'd like to announce the return of the NEFurs Billairds Meet!

Pay at the front desk when you get there....they will have some table sectioned off for us to use. Please form groups as the table amount is limited....please don't hog a table just for 2 people. Games of 4 people are suggested.
After the meet around 10:15ish, we will go over to Dennys pretty much across the street. Take a right out of the parking lot, take a right at the stop light, and a left at the next stop light. Around 8:00 I will begin taking a head count of people going to Denny's, so I can call and inform them to expect a group of people a little after 10. When you are done at the billiards hall, drive over to Denny's and say you are with the group.
IMPORTANT!!!!! Do not keep playing past 10pm....be cleaned up, desuitted, and ready to go by 10:15 or you aill be charged for another hour of pool. Of course if you choose to do so and don't want to go to Denny's....you are more than welcome to do that :)

NEW! They've added lights and music to the night time mini golf area for a new galactic golfing!
Please arrive around 6:30pm to allow time to suit up and change....please pay prior to suiting up. We are also going to be allowed to use the party room again to change and store our stuff, the party room is located right next to the mini golf area.
After the meet is over, I will be making a reservation at JTimothys across the street. There will be a poll attached to this post....please select either bowling or mini golf (I need to reserve lanes)....and also if you are going to go to JTimothys (I need a head count for a reservation)....this is VERY IMPORTANT!!! I have 6 lanes reserved so that's enough room for 30 people....if I need more when the day gets closer.....I can get more lanes.
This is a public place so please be curteous to the patrons of the bowling alley, please be on your best behavior. Please keep rough housing to a minimum and if you are causing any trouble for anyone, you will be asked to leave. This is a place of business and they have rules......please abide by these rules. Bowling shoes must be worn on the lanes.....feetpaws can only be worn if you are not bowling. If you are bowling...please keep the flow moving. If you are up....go bowl. There is a limit of 5 people per lane so we are not there all night.

Def want to hit Kage's story hour, dance comp, and masquerade! Going to also make an effort to get into the fursuit games too. I want to work on some dancing stuff too so if I see a circle I may watch or join in...idk yet :)

I'm going to try and be there....although it is AC and I always seem to get distracted with things lol

As much as I can! Still unsure if I will be able to fit both suits in my car....it all depends on how much stuff my ride buddies bring.

NE Billiards meet July 9th plus more!!
Posted 9 years agoComing back from AC and wanna keep the fun going? Not going to AC and bummed cause there's nothing to do? Well have no fear, because the next NE Furs Billiards Meet will closely follow the 4th of July holiday!
Location : Shooters Billiards and Arcade
50 Spring Street, Southington CT
Date : July 9, 2016
Time : 7pm-10pm (please arrive around 6:30 to allow time to collect the money and also suit up, we start promptly at 7pm and end promptly at 10pm)
Cost : 15.95$ per person
Ever play pool in your fursuit? Want to? Then come down to the New England Furs fursuit billiards meet! You don't need a fursuit to come and play though.....anything is welcome :) There will be fans available to coll down the suiters, as well as cold ice water too.
There is a bar on the premises and alcohol will be available for an additional fee.....as well as food for an additional fee.
There is a small game room and if you would like tokens for the game room, go see the front desk. Part of the deal we get is for game room tokens as well from 7pm until 10pm.
It's 15.95 per person. That includes 3 hours of pool, soft drinks, coffee, tea, and game room tokens
After the meet is over, there is plenty of options for food in the area. Most of us go over to Denny's a couple blocks away, but now there is a new Ihop that just opened not too far away. There is also a Buffalo Wild Wings there now too. I will create a poll with some options for food, and you can vote for your choice. Winning choice will be where we go for food.
The meet ends at 10pm, please do not hang around the billiards area for too long after 10pm or the people that are hanging around will be charged for another hour of pool at regular price. You are free to do so if you choose, or you can hang around the arcade area. Again we will be going for food afterwards, but you may choose not to do that too if you like.
After the meet ends, we usually go out for food. But this time I am setting up something totally different than anything we have ever done before! We are going to Cadillac Ranch....it is close by the billiards hall...about a 5-10 minute drive on west 84. They are going to allow furasuitting...I am still in the process of setting up a reservation through management....but there will be a full bar, they serve chicken wings and burgers as well as some other food from the grill....there will be open dancing all night until they close at 2am....and they also have a mechanical bull. Of course if you do not want to go to this, you do not have to. But if you would like to go to the meet and/or the after meet...please say so in the comments. I need to do a head count at least a week prior to the meet.

All scents listed available. I added a BunBun Snugs (warm vanilla cinammon bun) potpourri sachet to my fursuit bin a few days ago, and now Blade smells like a cinnamon bun :)
Sale will be active until saturday....and yes this means they will be on sale at the diner meet. Per request of the diner....I cannot conduct business sales on the premise of the diner....I will however have the stuff in my car, so if you would like to buy anything, please find me at the meet and we will step outside.
