Today I had to put down one of our wonderful dogs today. Angel, she was a mutt that clearly had Rottweiler in her. She slowly started to go down hill from her age. Slowly she started to stop eating and moving about the house like she use to. She use to be a very interactive dog and loved to talk and when she stopped we knew her time was coming. That's when this sudden mass started to grow on the underside of her throat that caused us great worry. The lump on her neck that I suspected that was cutting off her airways… it was cancer and I was correct, it would have choked her to death had we kept her alive… she had lymphoma... So we did what any pet owner dreads doing and put her down so she wouldn't suffer. As hard as it was to do, it was the right thing to do because I never want my animals to ever suffer. She knew she was loved, cared for and oh so spoiled rotten.

I remember the day we got her, mom brought her home completely randomly. This scrawny puppy that was all legs. We were living in Alaska at the time and mom while at the gas station overheard this lady saying she was going to throw the poor pup in the racing ice river not too far from where the gas station was. She instantly took the pup from the lady and told her that she would take her. The lady didn't complain and let us have her. Since that day, she was so very loved, always loved on, spoiled, given all the food, treats and toys she wanted.

I know she is no longer in any pain now that she crossed the rainbow bridge. I hope my sweet baby girl Penny was there to greet her when she was crossing. Rest in peace Angel, run in those open fields, free from all the pain, you can breathe now. I'll always remember you, you'll always be in my heart...
