Thoughts after first few uploads

For those that write or draw OCs - how do you come up with their names?! I always debate names soooo much and even the ones I decide on I doubt through the whole process.
I also wanted to ask for those that do read this - what is the preferred upload type for stories on here? I've done a .txt and a .pdf. I like that the text file posts the full story here without having to download anything or go to another page. Whatever makes your lives easier though - please drop a little note with the norm or what's preferred.
