help me w FA again im idiot

cool! so I chose a static thumbnail for the gif I uploaded when submitting, and instead of using that, FA used the first frame of the gif. so I went to edit thumbnail and tried again. hit submit. page refreshed and it was... the first frame of the gif still!
tried several more times, no luck.
am I just stupid? it says any size, and png is fine, and I upload a png that is definitely A Size and therefore falls under "any size" and FA just goes nope! with no error message of any sort to tell me why.
may I please ask what the hell am I doing wrong exactly?
