Do I still draw?
I just noticed I got a comment from a person asking if I still draw.
Then I noticed that they have shut down their account.
Well, here's the thing:
Do I still draw?
Not really.
Back when I got back into the fandom years and years and years ago, I was doing a lot of drawing at the request of my at the time girlfriend.
But then I slowly got out of it, mostly because I would look at FA artists and compare myself to them, which of course is the wrong thing to do.
I mean, I remember when Wolfie-Nail was not that great of an artist, and now, years later, he is. Same goes for a lot of my artist friends. Their stuff sucked hard when they started, and now they have people fighting for badges and art from them.
It takes dedication and persistence to improve one's craft, and really, it can be done. What's worse is that I have a minor of fine arts in my BA, so here I am not really using it.
BUT, here's the thing:
The reason I haven't been drawing over the last few years is that I have been working on something else creative wise. It is because of this that I had to make the call. Did I want to continue doing traditional art, or did I want to pursue this new creative endevour? In the end, the new creative path produced a lot more praise, recognition, and I found myself enjoying it a lot more.
And now, after years of working on this new path, I find myself looking at my sketchbooks and getting the itch again to put a pen to paper.
So do I still draw?
No.
But I will, and probably shortly. Will I post it?
I hope to. But I am years out of practice, so we will see just how much like riding a bike it is after all this time.
Until then, I will continue posting art I commission or get as a gift.
