Update on Party Animals and... Side Projects
a month ago
Hello everyone!
Another yearly journal entry on this website. So lets get started!
Where have I been? The answer is pretty obvious. Starting from late August, I've been primarily focusing on my studies during my final semester as a senior and not to mention... I graduated with a BFA in Animation! Yay! Now that it's nearly four months after I graduated, I'm currently unemployed and living in my parents house. Yay (in a very not so suitable way). But for one of my previous assignments, I had to create a personal project for my portfolio class and show it to the class. What better way to show my classmates and my professor is my upcoming animated pilot for Party Animals.
Well it's not the full pilot, because I need like a team of animators to help me work on this ambitious projects. But instead I presented them with an animated opening to hook them into hopefully watch the pilot that'll come out... eventually. My classmates and professor saw the animated opening for Party Animals and I got some positive feedback during our critique session. Got the usual kick-picks here and there, but there's nothing to worry about; there more future ideas and references whenever I decided to rework the opening. But overall, they like the opening and can't wait for them to actually watch the pilot in the coming years... maybe? Animation takes time and it ain't each!
So? How the progress? Well going over the first draft of the script, I told the class that I'm currently doing revision on the second draft and use that to rework the storyboards at the same time. Still on pre-production, but I don't want to rush it out and put myself in a "Thief and the Cobbler type of scenario." I don't want to spend 30 years while working on this pilot. Though the occasional setbacks will come along and delay everything; whether it's finding a job or helping my parents around the house. I would like to have another artist to help me work on the storyboards and do the animation at the same thing. But I what I notices is that most of these digital artist have a certain preference on what type of drawing programs they use to make their own drawings and animated projects. I've just started working on Clip Studio Paint and gotten the hang of it. But it also has another feature where I can do some of my animation work on it. But again, I need to know what type of programs that use to do their own personal work.
I even wanting to have some of my friends to help me work on my pilot and speed up the process, but they need to find time in their schedule and put in the effort. They also have their own worries they need to take care of.
At the same the time, I want to work on some other ideas that I have in mind. Like doing fan-art on my favorite shows or something completely original. I figured out on how I want to work on Party Animals and my side projects at the same time. Have my schedule be every other week. So week one is work on the script/storyboards for Party Animals. Then week two is one of my side projects. Week three is back to work on Party Animals. And vice versa. My goal for each week is get them done before Sunday. Now I've seen or heard other creators work on different projects at the same time, assuming they worked on each project every other week to get it done but who knows. But they do have a preferred deadline in order to get their projects done and ready. It's not easy at first, but its worth every hour in their busy schedule.
I have to end this journal entry here. But it was nice to check up on you guys and see how you doing.
In the meantime, I'll be seeing you in the next journal entry... by next year. lmao!
