The short profile –
I'm overeducated, liberal, eccentric, creative, nerdy, reclusive, and gay.
The long profile –
As a weasel, I come with all the usual traits of the mercurial and capricious. I used to be extremely restless and was always traveling or exploring. These days I prefer to hole up and work on various projects involving antiques, horticulture, research, aquaria and paludaria, art, electronics, and confectionary.
There are quite a lot of things I've enjoyed doing such as ceramics, blacksmithing, armour smithing, knife making, photography, water gardening (ponds and such), rock and fossil hunting, architecture, board games and games of skill, and throwing pointy things.
I've played in several progressive rock bands. I used to draw and paint ages ago, as well as build 3D things such as plush, fursuit heads, and so on and am keen to set up a studio/workshop/lab. I used to have a leatherwork booth at the Renaissance Festival. I've done a fair bit of professional writing including co-writing several tabletop roleplaying games.
I like ethnic foods (especially Ethiopian), seafood, raw meat, pasta, and desserts.
My current projects include a novel and designing a game based on its world, a very large multimedia project based around a long poem and including photography, photomanipulation, art, music, and narration (https://www.thewanderingweasel.com/fromator). For the narrated intro with pictures follow this link – (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdY.....nderingWeasel/)
I also have a comic 'Weasel Words' (https://www.thewanderingweasel.com/weasel-words), and some horticultural and other articles I've written are on my website. I've also been playing quite a bit of 'ukulele lately and have started writing and recording again. I play a few different instruments and sing. I haven't been active in music in a long while while my attention was on academia, but since I've moved on from that I've been enjoying creative pursuits again. My preferred musical styles are progressive rock and progressive metal.
I am self-employed and have a chocolate business and a horticulture business. I've worked as a tour guide, military forensic scientist, archaeologist, shark- and coral- keeper, model, university lecturer (geology/earth science), among others.
I am Cambridge-educated, and have a couple degrees. My PhD is almost complete; my research involved shooting lasers at skeletal vikings. I have a master's degree in Skeletal and Dental Bioarchaeology. I've also participated in a National Geographic-funded archaeological expedition to the Cycladic islands in Greece, and helped relocate a lost Chumash village in southern California.
I was born in Detroit and have lived in seven US states as well as Canada, Sweden, Germany, and the UK.
I'm horribly easily-distracted and I have a deep-seated need to always be working on something or doing something.
I tend to prefer to stay in rather than go out these days. I've grown increasingly reclusive over the last decade but am starting to become more social, if rather slowly. When I go out, I like to get out into nature, especially beaches, deserts, mountains, and forests, particularly in the tropics. I love plants and botanic gardens. I also enjoy going to thrift stores and antique shops. I have a serious dislike for cold, loud engines, barking, animal dicks, and kids' voices. I love weed. I like drugs but haven't really indulged in a couple decades. I have a horrible sugar addiction. I like to watch science, nature, music, history, crafting, and other videos on YouTube, but don't typically watch tv nor see movies.
Furry is a fairly minor but very essential part of my life. I am neither a cat nor a dog person. I do like wild animals and outdoor animals.
My current photo stream is https://www.instagram.com/the_wandering_weasel/.
I'm vaccinated. I'm not interested in conservatives. I can be pretty slow to respond to messages, but I endeavour to be less slow.
Join me on my wanderings, won't you?

a year agoI'm seeking Python coders to help create the game world and interface. The world is created, the systems are in place, now what is needed are some nice people to turn the descriptions to reality (by some definitions of reality). I've made a temporary website for the game which can be viewed here -
www.thewanderingweasel.com/thegameofashstone
If you're potentially interested, have a read through the website and see if this appeals to you. The world setting is vaguely Tudor; the game is coded mostly in Python.
Hope to hear from you!
