I started drawing animal-people in high school, during the late seventies, and I had no idea and no way of knowing my interest wasn’t unique. All that changed when I attended my first science-fiction convention in 1981—before the existence of the Web and even the name “furry community”—and met other folks with similar interests. I’ve been involved, to a greater or lesser extent, ever since. Yes, I’m old and gray.

By profession I’m a freelance graphic designer, production artist, and typesetter, and of course I have a strong interest in such things as type design. My other hobbies and pursuits range widely: history, science, and technology, especially as they relate to military affairs (no, I never served) and space exploration and settlement; historical wargames and pen-and-paper role-playing games; architecture and design; and, of course, the ladies.

A word about my journal: It is not a diary. For the most part I use that forum to “publish” mini-essays on a wide variety of topics, many of them relevant to creative types or furry folk in general. Yes, some of them are rants, but I try to make them nontrivial and intellectually rewarding, even so.
