9" x 13" color pencil (+Turpenoid) and a little micron pen
GOT WAY TO FREAKING INTO THE BACKGROUND! Was suppose to be reasonably simple!!! Have I mentioned I hate rocks?
Anyway, this is a commission for
tigerlover4 of his character Ysabel.
Ysabel has terrible luck keeping husbands. They always seem to meet up with wild creatures of the forest, die of strange illnesses, or just run off and disappear. Who knows, maybe it's because she's just to much for them, wears them out, and they're too weak to fight off what may attack them.
But whatever the cause, in the inner sanctum of her humble abode, she keeps a nice collection of various things to remember them by.....She particularly misses the musician. :)
Lots of experimentation with this one using Turpenoid to blend my Polychromos pencils.
yet another so-so photo. I will have it scanned later this week.

Wealth to her is meaningless but the coin and bric-a-brac just keeps piling up. Many of her lovers have been quit poor, and though some have been frail compared to her, some have been great warriors. She's just very dangerous game.
Take note that there are no feline, ummm, bed covers. She quiet likes the kitties, especially the striped variety, and no harm has ever befallen one whilst within her domain.

Because of this comic I think more of bears when I hear that line.

OwO Stunning finish to this! I can see why the background made you slow down for a bit, heheh. I am to assume the musician played the harp, and that since there are no striped..."bed covers"...I'd feel most honored and safe to stumble upon such a majestic and capable creature. Just a short visit, mind you. ;3 Truly wonderful work once again, T.
Beautiful!
A bit of mixed media approach is sometimes nice with coloured pencils. Apart from Turpenoid you can also use some "ink erasers" to blend coloured pencils (prismacolors at least). i used tro like working coloured pencils over watercolours and even acrylics...haven't done "real media" other than inks for a many years, but planning on getting back to it...
Anyway, this is deep, luscious, gorgeous, sultry purrr...!

amAAIIIIIZIIIIING.
She keeps the PELTS of her husbands!?!? I would slay this villain if I were given the chance!
or possibly... become another victim of her dastardly charm...
I'd hope otherwise.
Oh. Just noticed the name.
That's one of my all time favorite short stories.
Good choice.

From what I've read from your description and seeing the pile of ''furs hives'' she has under her I think I know what happen to the ... husbands ... LOL ... yup playing with her is like playing with fire ... really superb picture ... it's flawless an I love the sense of humor in it
Wow, wow, wow, WOW. :X)
The detail in this as the finished piece is beyond words! Thank you for sharing the in-progress stages too, it's been fantastic seeing the journey to the amazing end result.
And yes... there's nothing like a big cat to tempt you into trouble. (Trust me?!) *mrowr* :XP

Absolutely wonderful work on the composition, lighting and textures! I know too well the frustration of working too much on detail. But, in the end, I believe it truly paid off for the final picture!
I believe the composition and theme make for a powerful pin-up that combines great beauty with great danger. Having a relationship with a humanoid carnivore can be a very dangerous game indeed. Jeez, how I wish for a new "Cat People" installment...
