I usually aim to take about 6 hours on a speedpainting - roughly 3 on the character and the rest on the background. This piece took me about 9, which is still considerably less than my usual illustrations (that take about 6 hours more than that), but more than my usual speedpaints because the background was a little out of my comfort zone :).
Thank you!
Thank you!
this turned out to be sooo remarkable. just the time you spent on the dashboard. i really appreciated seeing how you went about the rendering this go around. rather helped me wrap my head around thing better. but back to the painting. i love seeing how you think through everything and how you appear to do so in stages. i'ts like you have your final vision but you only think about it in little parts, rather fascinating really.
Haha yeah that bloody dashboard soaked up most of my painting time xD. You're very welcome, glad you enjoyed the stream!
I work out the look and feel of the whole image before I start rendering, but I figure out the details in chunks. This ensures that everything will tie together well in the final piece. I've saved the stream recordings and will upload them in parts :3.

Pretty much, yes :). If you're interested in the process, I have just put up a video on YouTube demonstrating the start of this particular illustration: https://youtu.be/vbn2MRALDUs
Hehe, not as fast as I would have liked - I usually aim to take about 6 hours on a speedpainting (roughly 3 on the character, 3 on the BG), this one took about 9. The majority of that time went in working out the control panels - something I've not really painted before.
Now that is a good idea P= I tend to stick to commercial jets (or I have done in the past) but they don't always have the aesthetic I'm looking for.
Ha, I didn't actually notice tbh, I can see it now I'm looking for copy-pasting but you've done a really good job of making it work!
