IMARA (ee-MAH-rah).
Meaning: Stamina, strength.
Origin: Kenya, Tanzania
Imara is my newest Sona. I have always loved giraffes! They are so graceful, and agile, and gentle! I feel like I have had a very strong connection to giraffes, for most of my life, but it wasn't until I went on my honeymoon (with my now, ex-husband), that I got truly up close, and personal with them. By far, feeding the giraffes at the Natural Bridge, Zoo, in Virginia, was the absolute best part of our honeymoon. He took so many pictures of me feeding the giraffes, and I tried to take a couple of pictures of him feeding them, but they were all, either blurry, or I cut the top of his head off... so, that experience was truly, all my own, as there is no evidence of him having been there. I fell in love, all over again, but with the giraffes! They were even more awesome than I had imagined they would be! And ever since that day (May 9, 2009), I have been even more fascinated with giraffes, that I was before. There is only one other person, I have ever come in contact with, who actually knows what a Giraffe Noise sounds like! LOL And if you don't know, then I'm not telling!
So, how Imara came to be, is that
holds an Easter Egg Hunt, on her FA Page, every year. This is the first time I've ever taken part, because I had no idea what I was looking for, the last 2 years, that I have been a part of the FA Community. Well, this year, I finally knew what I was looking for. LINKS, to 41 awesome eggs, hidden all throughout Starvin's Profile. I actually found all of them, withing just a few hours, but I couldn't afford to adopt one... even with as inexpensive as they were. One kind soul,
LunaMoonglade said that she would pay for my egg, since I couldn't (I will be paying her back), and thus, Imara was born!
Thank you so much, to Starvin, for holding your Egg Hunt every year, and for drawing my Giraffe Girl, exactly how I envisioned her! And to you, Luna, for helping me out with financing my new Sona! I absolutely love her!

Having watched a pregnant RL one for months, waiting
for her to give birth, I can totally agree with why you
love 'em. I don't know what noise they make, since
there was no sound, but I planing on finding out over
the summer, since that particular giraffe is at an
animal park that's within easy driving distance.

You will have to listen very carefully, Serath, as it is a very quiet sound, but Giraffes DO make their own special Giraffe Noise... and it is hard to describe unless you've heard it. Most of the females at the Natural Bridge Zoo, were pregnant, when we went to see them. They had 17 Giraffes, and only 3 were males, and I think they said 9 of the 1 females were pregnant at that time! That's a LOT of baby giraffes!
