It's great that they are finally getting together or at least seem to be but I can't help but feel sorry for Andy's boss/boyfriend he's been nothing but nice to Andy and doesn't really deserve to be tossed aside for Cooper of all people. I just hope Andy is able to stop himself and end his relationship with his boss on good years otherwise Andy's professional future will be at risk a long with breaking the heart of someone genuinely nice and going against Andy's good natured self.
I look forward to seeing where this leads.
I look forward to seeing where this leads.
Well the first couple pages didn't give any indication that this would happen, it seemed like the comic was going to focus on the boss and cooper was just the asshole catalyst to the whole thing. Plus it's called THE INTERNSHIP, his internship and relationship with Waldren should realistically be the focus. I don't have a problem with some side exploration of these characters but if we don't return and see much more of Andy and Emery I feel like this whole comic was false advertising.
Didn't the tags to this comic say that this was going to be a love triangle? I saw that I knew immediately--this was just me--that it was going to involve more than just the boss; and when I saw the look on Cooper's face when Andy accepted the job, I just guessed that it'd be him. Especially when Andy started jacking off to thoughts of Cooper before switching to Boss Doggo.
I don't have a problem with Cooper getting more involved and having more development I just don't want boss dog to be relegated to just a little fling, as long as Andy and Emery get similar levels of development and interaction I'm fine, I just think his relationship with Emery should be fairly significant and prominent given the title of the comic
It's not going to be a little fling. This comic--vol. 2--is the second volume of a 4-volume series: So there's definitely going to be a lot more development, but you may have to be open to the fact that . . . maaaaybe Andy and the Boss Dog aren't going to end up together and in fact, end up with different people entirely. The Boss Dog has his own side comic now and that definitely seems to be opening up some new possibilities just like Summer's Gone did for Cooper. If you haven't read it . . . I won't give away any spoilers beyond what I've said.
i'd rather have a comic with a long story that spans the background and contexts with setups for the next volume than just churned out the same title-pleasing regurgitations over and over like a Marvel comic; there's no doubt in my mind we will see the boss doggo again soon, but for now we're riding a setup for something that obviously for them has been a long time coming and it will set the path for future conflict and forks in the proverbial road in their journey. Story telling is more than just focussing on the headline, leave that to the news papers.
I'm fine with it taking its time, what I'm saying is right now it feels like Jackaloo could totally abandon any more development with the boss, and never revisit it and have the rest of the comic be just about Cooper and Andy, which I'm sorry would be false advertising based on the original premise and title of the comic, it would be like calling "The Lord of the Rings" "Bilbo's Birthday!" and framing it as a fun little comedy just because the story starts with Bilbo's birthday, or calling Star Wars "The Moisture Farmer" and framing it as just a story about a space farmer. The title and premise of the comic gives certain expectations, Andy doesn't have to end up with the boss, or spend all of his time with his boss just because of the title and initial setup of the comic but over the course of the entire comic his relationship should play a significant role in the plot, not the ONLY role just a significant one.
No he couldn't, and no it wouldn't. Every action in life has a consequence, and every consequence has an effect. We are on the path after cooper kissed Andy that lead Andy to kiss cooper back, had he not done that, the story would have taken a totally different route; this is the consequence of that action, and the knock on effect will be the fork in the road for Andy and cooper when they have to make a choice. Cooper has to deal with the consequence from what he started, Andy has to deal with the consequence of his reciprocation, it could be a choice between letting emeray down, letting cooper down, or possibly losing them both if keeping both does not become an option. In the next parts of the comic the story will return to Andy at his internship, only now he has the baggage of these events which we are witnessing, otherwise the story simply stagnates. Its not false advertising, you are using that term incorrectly. Its a story about Andy and his internship to a career path, and the choices he makes along the way. If it was just a comic about just his internship, it'd be fucking boring.
I mean he could, there are tons of shit writers that completely abandon plot points, I could totally see someone making a comic like this and never revisiting the boss and having the story only revolve around cooper and andy, and literally all I've been trying to say is if that happened it would be shitty, that's it, that's all I'm trying to say. if x happens in story then that will be shitty, which is a common opinion to have when following any story ever. You people keep thinking my criticism means I want the plot to be very narrow and specific and is literally not at all what I've been saying and I've said as much multiple times. I am merely expressing a very real concern based on the track record of the quality of furry comics. That's it.
There is a pornographic movie called "Backdoor to Chyna", yet it has nothing to do with a door that leads to the read-end of an Asian Country. The title is what it is: just a title.
The focus of any story is not on the title. "The Room" wasn't about "just that one particular room." either. The focus of a story is on what the author wants it to be, which usually is on the main character's struggles or ventures.
Titles often are Euphemisms, Metaphors, etc. If you want yet another example: "Of Mice and Men."

And I'm critical of those too, naming your creative work something totally irrelevant is bad practice in my opinion no matter who is doing it, I can guarantee a college professor will mark points off an essay with an irrelevant title, and I'm sorry literally everyone would probably be critical of Lord of the rings if it turned into Austin Powers half way through or if Star Wars turned into American Psycho or something. "Of mice and men" isn't a relevant example because it's a literary reference to something relevant to the themes of the book. Having a title be relevant to your story doesn't mean it has to be literal, the catcher in the rye isn't a literal title but it is a relevant one to the novel's themes.
How is it "irrelevant"? Just because you're getting 1 page per week and it isn't about Andy being at his internship 100% of the time, it doesn't make the title "false advertisement", what are you even talking about?
A college professor will mark points off an essay because of an "irrelevant title"? Unlikely, unless the essay has nothing to do with the theme you were told to write. Titles are illustrative and sometimes not even allusive to the subject. I've written many, many essays with metaphors, seemingly unrelated alliterations, hyperboles and whatnot and I have never had any points taken off of my essays. Must be a thing where you live, surely.
"Lord of The Rings" is another perfect example. Was there, at any point of the story, one guy that was definitely a lord and was the lord of all rings or of many rings? Because the story is not based on "the rings", but yes on the crusade that two hobbits face in order to get rid of the last piece of an evil presence, which is *a* ring, not "many"/"several" rings.
"Of Mice And Men" is still a relevant example, because it's a Metaphor as a title. The story doesn't focus on mice at all, and one of the characters that make up for most of the plot is Curley's Wife - not a man.
Titles are always, 100% relevant to the story, but they are, in no way, shape or form, supposed to be what you are trying to say it should be. "The Internship" is still related to the story:
it's the center part of how Andy decided to try and move on from his crush on Cooper, but things ended up not going his way, and are developing into what he was trying to move away from. "The Internship" is still the important part of the story. YOu don't have to mention it in every, single, possible, line of the comic. Furthermore considering how many volumes the story has.
"False advertising is the use of false, misleading, or unproven information to advertise products to consumers or advertising that does not disclose its source." In no way, shape or form, the title or the story are false advertising.
I am assuming you are not a patron, so just like everyone, you have to wait, soak it in as it's posted here and enjoy it for what it is. The story will come back to "The Internship" part of it, all the other plot elements will be addressed, more plot elements will be added, just like any other literary piece.
... False Advertising... good grief

Jesus fucking christ I don't know why simply having an opinion on how a story is going has been this overblown, and I've literally had points taken off because of a title by a professor. I literally don't care what anyone has to say at this point, if the relationship between Andy and Emery isn't explored with just as much depth as his relationship with Cooper then this comic will be a massive disappointment to me and I will think it could have been handled and framed much better from the start if that's what it was inevitably going to turn into, period. end of story, that is my opinion and I'm allowed to have that opinion. And I never even said that's for sure how it's going to go, I don't know how it's going to go which is why I keep using the word "IF". "Hey I really don't like or I'm worried about the direction this story is going" is a 100% valid opinion to have, and people criticize a series about losing it's focus literally all the time, that's like half the criticism I see for walking dead, that it doesn't focus enough on ya know THE WALKING DEAD. It is a 1000% fair critique of something if it starts to lose its identity. There are countless series that are bad for that precise reason, they went on so long that they went off the reservation so much they don't resemble what they started as. One of the most common criticisms of Naruto is it goes from simple relatable and compelling story about a kid trying to prove himself and gain recognition, to some armchair philosophical contemplation on hate and chasing after his emo boyfriend. Now sure there might be some that still enjoy it, but they can't fault other people for losing interest because it become something unrecognizable or lost the appeal that drew them to the story in the first place. Also your rebuttals on titles are bullshit because I literally said in plain English titles don't need to be literal, can you not read? Lord of the Rings isn't even a counter example, the Lord of the Rings literally refers to the primary antagonist, that's hardly an example of a more vague barely relevant title, the literal Lord of the rings is the driving force for the ENTIRE plot in the first place. Of Mice and Men is fine as an example of a non-literal title, but I explicitly state it's fine because it's metaphorically relevant to the themes of the story, I explicitly state catcher in the rye is a perfectly fine title even though the story is not literally about a catcher in the rye. you're arguing a point I literally never made.
Is any romance story (especially realistic ones) really original, though? They're often the most generic and predictable because people live them, through their own experience and through the stories from friends and family, even through perfect strangers online. This arc clearly strikes a cord with many people reading, whether they're beta males or not. I'm sure the boss story line is a generic read to someone. That too isn't exactly original. Doesn't make it less fun, though.
Like I said before, I honestly doubt we've seen the last of the boss in this comic. Beyond current events, I'm actually curious to see what happens when Andy is forced to confront his feelings for the both of them. That confrontation wouldn't work unless the Andy/Coop thing wasn't fleshed out more than a grope and a cute backstory taken place years and years ago..

I honestly do want to see them become a couple. Yeah, Cooper was a dick towards Andy, but it's pretty damn clear they were also good friends.
And yes, what Cooper did at the very beginning was terrible, but Emery's just as bad. Emery's using Andy like a living sex toy. Those who read the comic from the beginning should know what I'm talking about. I'll give Emery credit for being honest, but the way he rubs Andy's ear is still creepy as hell.

I'm still in confusion to those who hold Emery to a pedestal and bash Cooper at every opportunity, I mean yes Cooper has been an ass in the past but more often than not from pressure from others plus the recent stuff has been essentially confirmed as jealousy
and emery feels shady, I don't know what about it but there doesn't seem to be an emotional or personal element there

He hired him with the sole intention of having sexual relations with him, wasting no time in getting straight to that point. Totally a paragon of morals. Sorry, but any boss that does that is preeeeeeetty scummy.
I agree, though, there's no relationship I can see coming out of them, not until they flesh out his character a bit. All I see right now is "highly likable boss daddy with terrible business ethic who's good for a bang." Once they flesh him out, though, I could see him being more relevant, but all he's had developed so far (that's relevant to the story) is that he's a "good guy".

He did flat-out admit that he wanted someone he could have some sexual fun with on the side, but he also made it clear that he was hiring Andy mainly because he was impressed with Andy's presentation and that the sex thing was not a requirement, that it would only happen fi Andy himself chose for it to, which he did. Compare that to Cooper sexually molesting Andy in order to win a bet...
Still scummy, can we really argue this? Just because Cooper is a creep, it doesn't by default make Emery a-okay. One person's choices does not suddenly negate the choices of someone else. There's no logical connection here, they're two different levels of bad.
Now, stay with me here...
If we're throwing our realism into this, about Cooper "sexually molesting" Andy, something that is beyond morally reprehensible, how can we leave Emery's disgusting business ethics in "fantasy land"? We either apply our realistic bias to the entire fictional world or to nothing at all, we can't just pick and choose. That said, find one person in a position of power in reality that would solicit sex from someone they hired, but not get angry, jealous, vengeful, or treat said employee any differently if they said no. We simply won't. A person with good morals, who is responsible and has a level head on their shoulders would not ASK that of an employee, ever. It doesn't matter if they gave said employee a choice-- that type of person isn't expecting "no" as an answer. Emery didn't do that because this is *fantasy*, the same way Andy didn't call Cooper out for sexual molestation and wasn't traumatized at all, other than getting a bit irritated... because it's *fantasy*. Hell, one can argue that even ANDY is an awful person because of his actions, as he's shown many time in this comic.
I was a victim of sexual molestation and I know what a realistic reaction to it is. If Andy isn't getting traumatized or butthurt over what would be sexual molestation in our reality (not necessarily in theirs), why should I? It seems to have effected him in almost no way (again, to fit the fantasy world set up here) why should it affect anyone else?
Getting all of that realistic nonsense out of the way, and actually looking at the story for what it is, a fictional piece of narrative, Cooper is the only one in the story that makes any logical sense for Andy to be with at the moment. There's no real connection with Emery (yet), and until there is, he is simply there for porn reasons. Although I suspect Jackaloo will definitely flesh him out a lot more in the future to make him relevant to the story, as he is now, he's has no logical reason to be with Andy.

I didn't try to say that Emery's in the right for what he did. Hiring someone because you wanna pork them is not the nicest thing. Maybe it wouldn't have looked as scummy had Andy waited. As stated by the comic itself, the only thing Emery did on his own accord after the hiring was the casual ear rubs on Andy and not much else, and Andy's internship was about to end without anything sexual happening. Perhaps Andy should've waited for it to end before starting anything with Emery, as by then they would not be boss and employee anymore, they'd be simple acquaintances.
And I disagree that Cooper is the logical person to be with Andy. At this point Cooper's an absolute mess of a person, he's got a ton of issues, and there's the fact that he was in a relationship with Chelsea and both he and Andy backstabbed the hell out of her. Any relationship between Andy and Cooper right now would be toxic as all hell, and it's not up to Andy to be Cooper's "cure", Cooper needs to solve his own damn issues himself.
So, yeah, Emery hired someone in the hopes of porking him, Cooper's a complete mess of a person who goes as far as getting into betraying his girlfriend and sexually molesting his frenemy, and now Andy's showing himself to be selfish and uncaring about the feelings of his best friend by making out with her boyfriend at her own home, trying to make excuses about it to her, shifting the blame onto Cooper and then trying to seduce him after stating that he needs to be a better friend to the person he just backstabbed. At this point Chelsea's the only character in the comic who's not a sleaze in some way or another.

As much as i love Emery, i love the development Coopers been given lately and i feel he has a strong chance to come around, much like plenty of closeted cases have. Theres a lot of physical attraction and affection Andy has with Emery, sure, but he and Cooper have a history, and things have seemed more intimate and romantic with them in these last few panels than they ever were with Emery. This comic has impressed me with its story and i cant wait to see more of it.
Wasn't Andy saying just a minute earlier that he needed to be a better friend, after what happened at the party? Now he's actively trying to have sex with Cooper just a moment after saying that! Andy's growing worse by the minute, not only is he being a really bad friend, he's also being a complete hypocrite to boot.
I'll be honest for quite a while now I've been curious why so many people are so quick to go for coops throat and say how much better emery is when we don't know his past yet. We have emery back near the very beginning talking about getting married before he knew he was gay, and then currently unknown events leading to a divorce. He literally could have pulled the exact same kind of shit coop has or worse to lead into the divorce, and the potential of that only accentuates some of the other red flags I get from him. Theres so much room in his background for absolutely trash behavior that just hasnt been filled in by anything yet. The only thing we know rn (patreons may know more already but IDK) is hes an older lonely dude out of a divorce from which we don't know the exact details of openly soliciting (optional) sex from andy before hes even hired plus making intimate advances like the casual ear rubbing before andy had ever actually agreed to the "optional" more intimate relations.
Not many readers have pointed out Andy's faults. He nearly shut Emery down when he found out boss dog was married, which suggests that Andy is monogamous. If not monogamous, he at least doesn't appreciate dishonesty. Emery quickly clarified that he was divorced, which brought Andy back around. Now he's seducing Cooper? After sleeping with Emery, who at one point revealed he was inexperienced despite his age (the overarching problem is every single one of them seems to be inexperienced... even Chelsea, given that she couldn't tell her best friend and the wolf she's sleeping with were suppressing their feelings)
Cooper, who was intoxicated at the party (we've all done this), kissed Andy. Andy, clearly taking advantage of the situation, kissed Cooper back, despite having already slept with Emery. There was no verbal commitment between them, granted, but Andy should at least assume his involvement with Cooper will rock the boat. Honestly I wouldn't fault Emery for firing Andy for this. It'd hurt him to find out. It'd be unfair and immature and everything else that's terrible, but at this point it seems like Andy and Cooper are meant for each other in that respect. They could more or less forge ahead through their sins, leaving Chelsea and Emery behind.

Awww! Just when it was getting good. How many of you are waiting on the "I love you!" bit? I know I am! Say it! Tell him already! I just want to jump in this comic and slap that wolfs face and say "He is in love with you, you are in love with him! Now get with the love making already!" XD
Well... I guess I have to confess. I have been searching through google image search for something about dogs. Since my Google account knows more about me than I do myself, the search engine is well aware that I like comics, dogs and more... This page came up in the search results, so what else could I have done? I looked at it and some related sheets closer. The outcome was that I almost immediately bought the entire 3 volumes of the comic and read (really read, not just looked through) everything that exists about The Interns including future stuff on Patreon.
I fell in love with the comic, especially these two characters, maybe simply because... I am a protag (ENFJ) myself (and I get stable results in various personality tests) just like Andy seems to be, I tend to do the same things, to act in a similar manner, there is noone I would consider an enemy, I love to help others and see how they benefit from that, and I have made (or even still make) similar mistakes, including having declined a proposal in my university ages... More to that, I am also aware that there are certain cases from which I ran away like Cooper does sometimes.
I'm looking forward to see the upcoming stuff! Please, don't stop and keep up the great work
