"The accepted legend of the Elemental Lords' inception begins with the creation of Krom'Thor: Lord of Earth, who brought stability to the tumultuous geology of Imperium. Next came Aros, the Annihilator, who released the Fire from within the world's core and tested the earth's resolve. Then came Elarel from the Depths, whose torrential rains and steady tides held at bay the fury of Aros and smoothed the jagged edges of Krom's domain. Finally, from the sky descended Lord Zephryn, and it was his subtle currents that guided the malice of Aros and Elarel to where they most tempered Krom's design. For centuries, these four were alone upon the face of the world, until it came time to fill that world with life, that final ingredient which was to be both charge and check to the four Lords; the beating heart of Imperium.
Ladies Light and Shadow came and went, for Imperium was not theirs to shape, not directly. Their medium was the soul, and their canvas the vast, dark Underworld. But fresh souls deserve vessels, and Imperium longed for life. So it was that Euvine, the last of the Elemental Lords, came to be.
Some say that Euvine gave the Elemental Kingdoms common ground, united them in one purpose. Some claim she was the spike that fractured their union forevermore, for once mortals came to Imperium, the Lords found something they had not anticipated: patrons. The four great realms extended their hands into the mortal world, and both were shaped irreparably by one-another, as could only have been intended. The balance of Imperium was completed, but the Elemental Lords' interest in their patron races would soon bring them into conflict with eachother, and the fragility of life forever shifted the nature of that conflict to something deep and painful. The Elementals began to feel what it was to scar.
Throughout the violent, perpetual Elemental conflicts that have marked Imperium's history since that lost age, Euvine has remained herself: a shoulder upon which all life could weep. She is in the very fiber of her core a pacifist and a caregiver, though her disciples do not always share these traits. Her duty is and has always been toward the balance of life in Imperium, and some believe she feels the waxing and waning of each life upon the planet with such intensity that her love and kindness are all she can ever stand to be. She is known across Imperium as infinitely passive, almost dependent upon the energy and devotion of her billions of disciples, but fortunately for her, those disciples never lack for motivation, and carry out her will with an unspoken knowledge that no matter what happens, everything will be alright in the end. As long as life upon Imperium has a place to seek solace, even for the briefest of moments, the balance of the world cannot fail. From her seat in the great world tree Euvinian, Lady Euvine spreads her love to the planet's furthest reaches, providing the lifeblood that fills the ancient veins built so long ago by her four eldest siblings.
Not all the Lords view Euvine with the same kindness, but despite what appearances may suggest, Lord Krom'Thor has and -it seems- shall always be a believer in her worth. So it is that the eldest and the youngest are the weights that keep the intangible scales of Imperium even, and ensure that even in the midst of horror and atrocity, both the world and the life that inhabits it will always have eachother."
I've been wanting to flesh out the designs of the Elemental Lords for a while now, and Euvine was a nice place to start! Hopefully I can do more like this soon, but until then, hope you enjoy!
