Chester’s uncrushed body was hanging on his sword holding both shelves apart. There wasn’t a way out due to the monster keeping him literally locked, and while Flora was busy, Barbie got turned into a book. To say that he was having it bad would be an understatement.
“Where’s Tom and Kage!” Chester griped. Hard to believe, but that scaredy-cat was his only hope, or at least would’ve been if he was anywhere near them.
<We’ve little of options,> Azure stated. That was obvious, so what’s next? <Our sword could’ve helped, but it is far from usable. I know a certain technique as well, but I do not particularly enjoy using it here…>
Unless we would be ready to kill this man, a thought appeared in Chester’s mind. He looked through the glass-stained shutter that locked them inside the monster. The monster did not move, but it wasn’t calm since the inside of it was still pretty hot.
“Any suggestions could work!” Chester finally said.
Azure was quiet at first, until he said, <I admit, this may rely on our luck. You do happen to know this monster, no?>
“…You mean Mr. Bearson?” Chester asked. He was familiar with him, true, but only insofar their mutual aloofness to one another when they meet in the library.
<The monster is him, so it will act on his hidden impulses. If we are to get out, we might require this exact knowledge.>
Chester cocked his head a bit, not entirely sold on how it could help. It wasn’t as if there was a book lying around, except for Barbie’s.
…An it was lying around unattended on the ground. Mr. Bearson, if anything, was very tidy. Chester couldn’t believe it, but that could work.
“But how do we get him to notice it?” He wondered. Azure audibly gave a “Hmmm,” in his head.
<I am not best at it, but…>
“What?”
He then felt the shelf suddenly push lower, enough to make the boy to lie down. It stopped just as abruptly, and Chester noticed how a red liquid started coming from the sword’s blade.
Without a magical charge, they are just weapons, like any other, though sturdier than most, a thought came to him.
<Are you prepared?>
Chester nodded and then placed his hand on the glass door. Chester saw flashes of someone, some lady in a long garb, teaching Azure about elements, and how one could attune to them based on your personality. He later learned more for the sake of fighting as tie went on, but never anything more seriously.
<Follow my word.>
He concentrated on his hand. At first, it seemed like nothing was happening, but as if someone decided to flip a switch, and his surrounding changed. It was odd to see different colors, different textures and shapes of everything, as if he was submerged in water, it was almost suffocating. He was feeling light-headed, too. Everything became clear, even where the Barbie was, lying just a bit to the side of them.
Through the glass, he was able to “touch” the air, and as Azure instructed him, he felt like his hand became a magnet.
<Now, push.>
He did lightly, and “saw” the form on the outside change its flow. His vision soon turned back, and by that time, the wind already manage to hit something loud. He wasn’t sure what exactly, as he couldn’t process what he saw, but it was enough to make the monster notice and move. As it did, Barbie, as a book, came into the view.
<This should work now,> Azure said.
Chester felt his head spin. He never had gone through such a feeling before, and even lying down, he couldn’t stop it from losing its grip. Based on Azure’s thoughts, he realized that it was apparently one of the easier spells to do, and it would barely amount to anything in a real fight.
The monster apparently took a notice of the book, and started moving towards it. The internal temperature even began to cool off, and even shelves perhaps eased up. Sadly that didn’t help much to Chester, who nearly upchucked as it awkwardly moved towards it. This spell really got it.
But then, it started shaking. He heard a moan, and the heat began building up again.
“What’s going on!?“ Chester muttered.
“CHESTEr- I mean, Sir Azure!!!”
Hearing its voice, Chester realized who it was, and then made a groan. The monster shook its body violently to face backwards. There, charging at them was Tom, in his dark-clad form with two daggers out.
“I’ll get you out Sir, don’t you worry!”
“No Tom, don’t!” Chester yelled back, but the latter seemingly didn’t listen to him. Or perhaps, he might not be able to hear them, Azure pondered.
He saw the monster shoot its hands out like a pair of giant cannonballs, heading straight at Tom. The latter moved with a ninja-like speed, slipping through any attempt to catch him. Tom managed to get close, and with his daggers, slashed across the shutters. This unfortunately did nothing. The monster retaliated with a swing, and Tom escaped again before he could even touch him.
Chester felt the heat build up once again within the confinement. The monster was growing frustrated again, and he noticed the shelves slowly pushing inwards again.
Tom, on his end, looked frustrated too.
“I dunno if I can do anything to him! Where’s Flora and Barbie?” He whined.
The monster’s arm flew out and grabbed him by his foot, much to his horror.
“HE GOT ME, WHAT DO I DO!!?” He screamed. Chester watched him get dragged closer, only for him to shout, “WHAT DO YOU MEAN LET HIM!?”
Tom was then tossed right inside the Torque, onto the separate shelf within it. Before long, he could hear Tom pleading and shuffling inside the small space, likely to get smaller once time passes.
“Well, this is great,” Chester said unamused.
“Chester?” He heard a knock above his head. “Where are you? Are you next to me?”
“Bit lower.”
“Okay, don’t get scared,” Tom said calmly, out of nowhere.
Chester felt a bit confused by it. It was very quiet for some time there…
Until something dark literally landed right on top of him. However that managed to happen.
“This is very uncomfortable,” said Tom, wiggling himself right on top of Chester.
“Yeah, no duh! Get your feet of my face!” Chester said, shoving him away.
<Still full of tricks, that cutthroat,> Azure noted.
“Sorry!” Tom said on his end. He took his time to check their surroundings, and then said, “Sir, just hold on tight and don’t think! I’ll get both of us out of here…or is it all four of-“
“Just get to it, Tom!” Chester complained.
“Okay! Sorry.” He paused for a second. At first, he seemed to be ready to grab him, and yet his head turned in a way that it looked like he stared at the top cupboard. “Is that Flora?” He suddenly said.
…
As she floated closer, Flora had now gained a better view at the monster. She raised the crystal in her hand.
“This is the better we have...Right?” She asked, hesitantly.
<Sending a crystal would result in an blast large enough to hurt it and break the mask. However, having care is most certainly a priority, still.>
With that in mind, she tightened her grip and wrapped the pink-colored light around the crystal. Stretching the form into an arrow, she placed it on the bow, and aimed at the monster.
<The arrows will be heavier, so you cannot expect the same maneuverability as before.>
“I got it,” Flora replied, feeling just a tad bit anxious. Rose gave her her best suggestions, and she could only rely on herself, once again.
Few branches below her shook out of nowhere. This made Flora’s head turn, but after a while, it looked like nothing.
She focused on her arrow again. “Now turn…” she muttered.
…
“I can see Flora!”
“Wait, what? How?”
Tom kept looking right at the upper cupboard. He was able to see through it somehow, most likely using that same vision he had before.
“That’s weird,” Tom then noted. “There’s like a hole that’s moving under her. I don’t think she noticed it, either.”
“A hole?”
“Yeah. Usually they tend to be monsters. Is there another monster here!?”
Chester shuddered, and a lump formed in his throat. This was no monster likely after her. It was worse. And if they don’t do something, she will more than likely be in trouble.
“We need to make this Torque turn!!!”
“But how?” Tom asked.
“Just bait it! I’ll do the rest!” Chester answered.
<This is a far more difficult than you might think, Chester.>
“We need to try something, though!” He put his hand on the glass shutter. “Can you do it, Tom?”
“You sure?“ Tom asked anxiously.
“Do it!” Chester prodded.
Just like that, Tom disappeared away into upper cupboards. Chester could move again, though still in a limited space. The upper board was lower than his knees were, and he could barely turn his head up. He could swear he was slowly becoming claustrophobic from it.
Thankfully, the monster finally began slowly turning. Chester felt the weight shift, as the monster groaned, and its heat building up once again. Soon enough, he could see the wall of bushes, and from below a clear sky. There was Flora, in her warrior form, holding a bow. And right below her, was that general, grabbing her legs.
He already got to her.
That meant there was only one thing he could do.
“Hope this works.”
He entered the state again. This time, the colours became louder, and the shapes far more volatile. He wasn’t simply being suffocated by them, they were aggressively attacking him, and his head immediately started cracking.
<Ches..r!> Azure called, but his voice was muffled. <Yo…ente…to..soon..!.Y..ar..n’t.re..dy..!>
Chester’s vision slowly blurred into nothing. Then, he pushed his hand forward.
…
“Missed me!?” The general yelled.
“When did-“
“I ain’t letting you go this time.”
Flora was losing altitude quickly. Somehow, this man just wouldn’t stay down, and now she was going down with him! At this point, there was no way she could possibly beat him. Nothing she could do, by herself.
“Let’s slam you into the-“
The general then got jerked into a direction, making him lose his grip a little. Flora saw this, and used this chance to gather energy in her hand. Hoping it would be enough, she whipped his hand, making the careless general lose his full grip on her foot.
As he fell down, his face shown pain, anger, and utter bewilderment.
Now free, she aimed with her bow once again. As she shot, it travelled far, and hit the monster, who happened to look straight at her.
The crystal created a large explosion of every color, big enough to be seen from their school.

<Are you prepared?>
Chester nodded and then placed his hand on the glass door. Chester saw flashes of someone, some lady in a long garb, teaching Azure about elements, and how one could attune to them based on your personality. He later learned more for the sake of fighting as tie went on, but never anything more seriously.
<Follow my word.>
<Now, push.>
