Kindness Butcherbird (or Nessy, as her friends like to call her) exists across time. As her mortal forms expire, she'll hop from the obsolete body back into her Book of Shadows, waiting for another person to read the book and encode her into their person.
In her primal form, she is a savage elder tribeswoman. The crocodile, rat, and zebra skulls adorning her waist were her most important claims. The giraffe pelt over her chest was someone she once used to be.

Only one can be in the book at the time, so it's most vulnerable when Nessy and her friend are both in the mortal world. It's the duty of whoever's mortal to guard the book.
The words in the book change depending on who's in it.
