Originally I had planned to do the stone pattern and add the tiger stripes in black afterwards but I think it works just fine like this and still reads as tiger. 11x14 acrylic, coloured pencil and blackwing pencil on arches watercolour paper.

It definitely reads as a tiger, Heather, and honestly, this pattern looks far more geological and thus apropos to the theme of 'malachite tiger'. This is brilliantly done.
As it is, I have a yellow tiger, for whom I'd be sorely tempted to say hir stripes are patterned like this.
