I never knew, but he also has a 1967 Buick Skylark Gran Sport, the upscale version of mine. When I first caught a glimpse, I had a flash back. The first car I ever remember being in was the 67' Skylark, and it was in this condition for many years that I can remember. It was together and still had some good paint. I lived in very hard times, I lived in a run down house next to the rail road tracks with the Lark in the garage. Its one of those times of my life that I will never forget, never. After we moved away from downtown to a small town, it was a new life for me and the Skylark. After 6 long years of restoration, the glory of the blue boat has come back to life. When I saw this Lark, it reminded me of my grey and white days of a former lifestyle, which I promised to never look back at in detail. If it was any car, I wouldn't mind at all. But when its a beautiful car like the Skylark, a GS model especially, my soul leaves me sadness and darkness. I pray one day for this Skylark to be reborn again, showing the new racing world older technology that was once the king of the road for its time, teaching them how things changed between the then, and now. Just something a bit from me, I could be exagerating abit, but my earlier years has left a mark in my memory of how life is living only on bones. I hope I never see another one in this state again, its just a stab in the heart for me.

I used to be that way when I saw decomposing GM cars, especially the Camaro, but it is something that will have to pass, just enjoy what you have made yours and hope that your inspiration will help others follow your lead. Maybe you can help others do what you've done, breathing life into these old cars can change the way you think and live. Either way, keep on croozin and don't let the new age BS get you down. :)
I know what you mean when you mentioned you had a flashback to past experiences in your life when you had seen this decaying Skylark as many times all it takes is something small to bring us back to a different time. I reckon your own Skylark's restoration and becoming something very nice could be a metaphor for your own life based upon what you have mentioned above, and this Skylark above could be like a bad time in your life.
It is sad to see something nice especially what I am assuming was an upscale Buick Skylark in pretty bad shape. Hopefully, the car's owner will see the value of the vehicle and work on it rather than waiting too long when time and lack of parts might hinder any effort to rebuild the vehicle.

I hope you are right that your friend will get to the car, too. In light of his collection being so big I am sure this car will be a low priority right now which would be unfortunate. To me, it would be far better if your friend sells the vehicle to someone who can restore it rather than it simply collection dust in that barn.
Oh, that would be so cool to see a 1967 Buick Skylark convertable!
Now that I think about it Buick does not have a convertable in its lineup nowadays, and it is a shame that the old Pontiac Soltice was not recycled as a Buick roadster until Buick engineers could come up with a replacement. Buick definitely needs a convertable in its lineup much as what Lexus has currently.
A white Skylark would surely look great, and I have always liked white Buicks!

lol, yeah. Fords are not bad cars, but I don't understand their manuals in some ways. XD This lark is going no where, even though it has "an" engine. I still need new tires for mine, they're original to the car. They lasted quite long, but now there are cracks on the sides.
