Deadpool is a collaboration. Liefeld may have thought up the initial idea of Deadpool, but he's not the main contributor.

A bunch of comic types were mad about it, and I guess it's kind of immature, but the whole situation with Liefeld is like if you had a kid working at your McD's who gave everyone who asked for burgers chicken nuggets.. and the nuggets aren't even cooked. You would fire him. But they don't. They keep him on, serving out cold chicken, and no matter how much customers complain, the management doesn't do shit.
After a while it should no longer be illegal to hit him. :I

Also, why ever improve or do anything right? Once you have an in in an industry, even twenty years after the fact, you can still get work no matter how shitty and behind the times you are! Someone who can colour in photoshop will fix it for you.

Oh yeah, his whole career seems to be digitally painting over cheesecake photos and adding super hero costumes. I don't know what that's about aside from making it all that more difficult to not look like a sleazy pervert when buying comics. Gosh if I wanted to look like a perv, I'd buy some manga, trufax.

honestly, he has potential to be completely honest... but i don't think he's really on par with what people have come to expect from marvel or any other big name comic company. that and if he can deliver on time...

still... all things considered, i'm not going to hate on him... i'll laugh, of course because he's just not ready for that kind of project imo. but to be completely honest, i've seen worse art in comics than this... (one was from my all time fave comic sceries "Mutant X." the art wasn't top notch but the story totally made up for it.)

though, one thing that does piss me off about his style... all his faces seem to look the exact same (aside from male vs female.)

he's a huge name though - a "high end" marvel artist that makes thousands upon thousands for each hired job.

Liefeld was a lot more popular in the 90's when that style of grittiness and pouches and general dripping with Machismo came into popularity. Say what you want about Liefeld (Lord knows I do), but his work is very... evocative. Mood-setting. Splashy.

This plus a certain level of notoriety has carried him pretty far. For some reason I can't get  BugPudding to agree with me on Liefeld, mostly because Liefeld carried a certain zeitgeist for comics in the 90's, which makes him a bit of a standard in other ways beyond the anatomy.

... in short, Liefeld's the Stephenie Meyer of Comic Book Nerds. X_X

At first I thought he was just arching his back really really far, but that's still really fucking awkward.

I don't know. I'd expect these kinds of mistakes to happen in quickly done animation cells or if I started doing muscly things. So that's how you get a shitload of money.. Draw generic super heros and make them really shiny.. I think I got the shiny part down, now all I have to do is draw sweaty glistening men with huge ribcages and forearms fighting each other.

I don't understand the hate. Plenty of other art drawing people in the furry community attempt even more absurd practices in anatomy.

The difference being that this guy's a "professional" artist who makes obscene amounts of money working for Marvel. Most people would expect somewhat higher standards in that situation.
