The chore continued as this : they had a long day of walking, then they found a place to rest for the night. Hema and Sakda went out finding foods while arthid manage for their camp, preparing campfire, bed and roof from any material he could find. After a few days of walking along the shore or going through the thicket when the shores ended, they found a seaside compound which they could not be mistaken, with it’s characteristic stone lion statue, it was easily recognized as The Lion’s Port.
Should they be happy if the port was not abandoned as it was. There was not even a single ship docked there. It was reasonable though, very few sentient creature knew the existance of this strange land, coming here was even harder. That was why special navigation skill of the lynx brothers were needed.
Nevertheless, there was other thing they came for : their belongings. The lions made their way fast to the house they remembered their goods were left “Must be this one, I remember it clearly” Said Sakda. As he came in he found their bags “Here they’re our tools. They come in handy now, we can make a lot out of this. Even if we couldn’t get out of here, We’re no more primal, we have tools!”
The lions rushed to their things. Armors were put on, spear long sticks were armed with spear tip as a temporary weapon. Sakda could feel the different, since they were landed here they allowed to wear next to nothing, only the loincloth which represented no dignity at all liked a helpless captive. But now with armor he felt himself as a formidable warrior.
He looked around. It was so happened with his friends, their looks were dignified. Arthid’s big muscular body covered with shiny metal suit. He was holding spear up right and practiced thrusting. Even his body was big, but he was not clumsy at all wielding spear. The three lions had had martial training when they were at the university because they were expected to defense themselves when having a long journey in a distant land. “Arthid, you looked way more handsome gearing up” Sakda said, his eyes fixed at him.
Arthid continued with his spear “It’s good we’re free again. What will we do next, smart one?”
Sakda lifted his chest high “We will wait here for any ship to come and fight anyone who tries to capture us, now we have weapons, fear no one”
“How do I look?” Hema asked showing his newly armoured body and holding a spear menacingly “Like a warrior lion?”
“You’re gorgeous young warrior” Sakda admired him. “Now we will run no more, we fight!”
“ I thought we hide” mocked Arthid “I don’t want to fight, we don’t have to, just stay low profile and hope there’ll be some luck for us. There must be some incoming vessel or something.”
Sakda shrugged “Well, our dinner time is near, let’s get something to eat!”
That night after their stomaches were filled. There was plenty time to thought of many thing including the initial purpose of coming here : their study on these strange lionesses.
Sakda sat down with his friends and discuss their topics “Look how strange those lionesses are, how come there’s no male lion cubs born from them for generations, and they have to find male from another land to breed with. I havn’t heard something like this before” Said Sakda.
Hema wrote down for record “Let make something clear, male cubs were rarely born. According to that Doctor, Manya, if what she said was true, that you’re a male cubs born here. I means there can be male cubs but rarely though.”
“I can feel that Majjari is really sharing blood with me” Sakda answered. “But what did bother me though is that they also tended to kill their male cubs even if they don’t have enough male. That’s insane”
Arthid said while sipping coconut juice “I wondered what are they thinking. They’re really in need for a male, search them, kidnapped them, and why can’t they just treated them well enough to make them want to stay. It must be easier that way than keeping them degraded, I mean degraded like this”
“There must be something to do with their believes” replied Sakda “According to their lore, all males are considered a lesser being our only significance is during breeding seasons that we can make them pregnant. Male cubs are even worst, they are like an abomination among them, because all born cubs were considered female”
Hema said while continued writing on his note book “Well, that doesn’t seem to explained it all. If males are only breeders, lesser being or abomination to them, they have no needed to treated us as it was. They could just chained us and used us as intended. But this was different, we’re theated like something of an admirable subject”
Arthid asserted his opinion “Maybe out point of them having one conform belief system was wrong, judging from how their trived on the remains of their socially advanced past. Even if their number is so few to considered them a tribe We cannot treated them as one. They might be different groups of lioness bind together”
“I can think of something!” Sakda blurted “Some commoners said they didn’t even like the pristresses because the pristresses usually keep the males by themselves. Even if they’re not allowed to breed with them”
Hema’s eyes widened “This is interesting, What dose this implied? The pristresses control the males, thus control the power over other fractions of lionesses”
“Also, that’s why they want total control over us, so we can’t turn our royalty to other fraction” Added Sakda
“Now I can only think of them as cruel elites” Sakda sighed, writing his own note . He was thinking of Majjari. She was his sister of course, but what was her intention. Did she really sided with him or this was all the plan to make him royal to her, so that she can had him done anythig she wanted. In his case, Majjari was unexpected to know the fact that they shared blood, but what about Swari. She explicitly flirt Hema, was that, too, an attempt to tame Hema.
“I will never go back there” Sakda muttered to himself.
They dicussed their plan that night and it concludes as they stayed there at the port for sometime, if there was no ship docked there, they have no choice but to leave and roamed into the wilderness and made their way back home through the mountain range and unknown lands.
Days went by, their routine was usual. They hide in one or the port wearhouse, trying to keep themselves as quite as possible. Actually staying low was not quite in their mind, sometime out of bordom they played with each other like cubs. Hide and seek or Hunter and prey were what they played. When they got tried of playing they rest and prepared something for their always fabulous dinner, easfoods fruits and vegetables all they could eat was gathered in an considerable amout for each meal.
In each passing day, desperation built up, there was nothing over the horizon, not even a single ship. At last, they needed to continued their journey. All lions put on their armours and spears preparing what waited them in the wild. The most fearsome enemy was not wild beasts but the huntresses waiting for them somewhere in the thicket of trees. There was no sign of the huntresses after the first day they was persued. maybe they lost them, or they waited patiently in the meadow for the best time to strike.
