Yeah, years ago, I could relate. After dropping out of college, I went to work in security. Very regimented. In at 2:30 PM, out at 10:30 PM. Oops, someone called in 'sick' and you're stuck coming in 4 hours early or staying 4 hours late -- usually at least once a week.
Then I started working as a programmer and I had to be in at 7:00 AM -- after spending a dozen years on second shift! Oops -- a program broke; you're up all night fixing someone else's code...
