A small painting I did. Just playing around with underpainting and layer effects. I wanted to try capturing the feeling of heading back home on a summer evening through the forest.
The nice part about drawing random puppies is that I don't have to worry about getting specific markings or colors. Nor getting the "best view" of the character. I think this is the first time I've done something where you can't see the face. I like the effect.

This is lovely! The brush strokes highlighting the fur are so nice and I love the earthy palette. The freedom of posing the character how you want without having to show specific features makes for a really nice focus on the general feel/atmosphere. Love the warm yellow light. <3
