There are beetles in the family Buprestidae that are fire-seeking beetles. They intentionally seek out forest fires and lay their eggs in burnt trees to give their larvae the best chance at life. Some species even have infrared sensing organs on their abdomens that direct them to the fires and let them find cool patches amongst the char. Buprestidae are famous for the metallic wood boring beetles, but it is a diverse family that fills a lot of niches. I've even seen a species on the amaranth that grows every summer, and another on any Palo Verde that breaks.

And in addition, there's at least one woodpecker species that is likewise adapted to seek forest fires... and guess what they eat.

Did this one as an anthro because it was only after day 4 that my wife (who assigned me the challenge) was surprised that I hadn't been doing anthros.
