Why did I never think of this? Maia loves eating ice. During the winter I saw her munching chunks of ice from a half-frozen river, shivering uncontrollably in great racking shudders yet still she had to keep cronching on that ice. (Which is also an ASMR experience all of its own.)

By the way, if I ever want to hydrate her in a hurry? Splosh of milk in the water bowl. The bowl will then be drained (except for the usual splash-and-dribble radius) and licked dry. My only concern with this trick is that she doesn't seem to have an off switch and would quite possibly give herself water poisoning if given the chance.
