one artist I know became an incredibly strong artist in just a year (they was already drawing well)
the point is that learning should be gradual and you like it (you have to find your own reasons for each stage of learning, even for a boring stage with simple figures).
otherwise, you, as a runner who ran too fast from the start, will lose (I've been through this... in addition, such training is not digested, this is the way to nowhere)

wow, you are so right. and that's a really good way to think about the healthy and non-healthy way of art progression and improvement. and I love how it reflects that is you have passion, it will reflect in your work, or even in many other fields of talent!
