Character

Zh'kel comes from a long lineage of Vidari guards. He was groomed into his job by his parents, who taught him all the ins and outs of their job. He showed great talent in learning martial arts in his youth, and he was incredibly sportive, clearing obstacle courses like it was something trivial. He passed the entry test of the Diplomatic Guard with exemplary results, and was soon assigned to the guard team of the Vidari ambassador R'far, at the time the Vidari ambassador on the Cetian homeworld.

After Terra's First Contact event, R'far was reassigned to represent the Vidari on Terra. Of course Zh'kel tagged along with him. The ambassador went all around the planet, meeting new people and have a good word for his people. Here Zh'kel came into contact of the versatility of Terran magic and its uses, and he became very fascinated by it, though not all experiences were positive. One of the ambassador's trips went to Chili, to La Ciudad Dulla, a city that turns everyone inside its magic field headless. During this trip, he was comforted by a friendly mare by the name of Lydia. She was a counselor on one of the new Terran ships, and her experience helped him to cope with the situation better, the two fell in love, and he wished to see her face when they went outside of the city. To his surprise, his new friend was actually permanently headless, but that didn't stop their love to flourish. They promised to meet each other again later on. Lydia would join him for a few months on a Vidari ship to his homeworld as part of the cultural exchange program. They liked each other's company very much, and Zh'kel wanted to extend this, and managed to get on the cultural exchange program the other way, and thus, he ended up on the Pioneer with his friend, where he serves in the security team.

Zh'kel is a disciplined fighter, and very skilled in different disciplines of martial arts and gymnastics. Only experienced fighters can manage to win from him. He trains every day to stay in shape; some call him a "sportsaholic". He has a bit of a problem with the captain's pacifist stance, which goes against the philosophy of his patron spirit T'kani, and can't seem to grasp the merits of the captain's ideology. Louis, his direct superior officer on the other hand appreciates his competences a lot, and finds him a very trustworthy ally. On duty, he often carries his favourite hand-weapon: the Knocker, a non-lethal weapon that tries to neutralise its targets by throwing them off balance. He may not be a pacifist, he still tries to avoid excessive force at all costs.
