I'm falling behind AAAAA! The past two days I was too busy to post, and I'm not sure I'll manage tomorrow either, but we shall see!
What better way to make your arrows deadlier than coating them with poison? It's even easier to do so when some frogs or toads produce extremely toxic secretions on their skin, and all you have to do is rub the arrowhead on their back! The frog or toad is not harmed in any way, and can be released after the job is done.
This particular toad seems to be extremely displeased about being used in such a way, though. :P

Colorado River Toads aka Sonoran Desert Toads in Arizona - close kin to Cane Toads. Big sobs like in that drawing. Shared a soaking pool at a commercial hotspring outside of Phoenix with a couple of them. Everyone else bailed from the tank - were terrified of the toads. I had them sitting on my knees. No toxins released and I got to pet them a bit. Toxin messes with the heart rate and can be rather trippy too. Just don't get it in your mouth or eyes.
I remember the 'Horn/ed Toads' I used to see all OVER the place, when I was camping/hiking in the great South West. Apparently those little critters are now endangered?! So,,, 'Dinosaurian' they're CUTE!
:-D
Isn't it amazing just how WELL our thin-hide actually protects/preserves our entire BODY? I swear, I never gave 'Skin' the due respect/appreciation it certainly is due!
Also, THE largest 'Organ' of the body! (I didn't know that, either!)
The more ya know, eh?
