ahh drum corps, such bad memories for me x3 but still a really nice arrangement of drumline. Reason I don't have fond memories is that I was the only one who could read music, while these guys in drumline had "awesome" chops. We'd basically only get tryouts for drumline, and since I was the only one in pit what they'd do is send me their rejects and ask me to teach them EVERYTHING. It was difficult not only because they did not know how to read music but also because their motivation was low because of feeling like rejects and that's what the pit percussion turned into in everyone's minds: the place where drumline rejects go. I did do some tenor drums but I enjoyed the Vibraphone so much more.

Anyway, there's my rant, all things said, I have nothing against drum corps itself and I know that things aren't like where I played. It can be a treat to watch just to see the movements and such. I also loved doing indoor percussion. Either way, I loved your work there!

I think we've had this discussion before. I'm actually a pit guy so I can really sympathize. As an instructor, I feel it's my job to kind of take kids like these and show them just how much fun being in a front ensemble can be. The high school I teach (my old high school) is actually currently in a pretty sad state in which we had a pretty terrible drumline instructor for the last couple of years and now those kids have lost all excitement for being in the drumline. Meanwhile I was able to turn the kids in the pit into a pretty decent front ensemble over the course of 2 years and in the end they were achieving a much higher level than the battery, which led to a pretty frustrating season.
