first spring shower comes
wash away, imbued our past
bittersweet its scent
Consider everything past the 1:55 mark as non-canon / a VIP if you wish; I like the percussion, but I could not for the life of me get the "beatpump" modulation right because FLEX makes it pulse differently based on where playback starts, and resets if you touch anything on the timeline LOL
Just wanted to play around with those musical ideas and get them out of my head with something that's finished

Oh, yes, I agree! When FLEX was first released, I thought they meant it was a powerful synthesis tool for the common producer to use (though I'm not the best at sound design >-<, just would have been cool to be able to change some more things, as you have noticed), but apparently, it's a more of a powerful developer tool to provide useful patches and packs for producers to use, which I've been utilizing on a number of occasions, so I'm not complaining X3
I did investigate a little bit into what it was you were talking about, however. Using Serum and Vital to help me figure it out (mostly Vital), the "Beatpump" macro controls the mix amount to a lowpass filter with the cutoff automated to sync to your song's tempo, meaning it will always fall in line with the downbeat (if you're in 4/4 time, then the quarter note, of course). This is, of course, useful for driving tempo, but not as much for doing anything more expressive with it.
However, if you were paying attention -- I know, I tend to ramble a lot >m< (but I don't get to talk peer-to-peer with people often...) -- I mentioned that the "Beatpump" affects the mix of a lowpass filter... and FLEX just so happens to already have the Master Filter set to lowpass. If you want more expression from literally the exact same effect, try automating the Cutoff knob under the Master Filter :3
Additionally, while I won't go into it now, I could also help you create the Trigger Mode effect where the filter cutoff is controlled by note input (so you won't have to automate each one).

I appreciate all of your insights! Yeah, I try to keep myself humble by remembering that most struggles I encounter are from my lack of proficiency--or using shortcut-y things and expecting full reign over what it controls (I hadn't messed with any other knobs than the unique-labelled macros lol). I definitely need to experiment more and learn what all the tools do that are provided to me, and also branch out to new VSTs to grow 🌱
No problem! I've been using FL Studio for over 10 years now, and while I try my best to look for answers and tutorials to help me, a lot of the support from the community is unreliable and, well, just downright sucks >n< So, I've made it a point to try my best to always be experimenting and learning with different techniques, plug-ins, ideas, etc., so I've amassed a healthy knowledge that I'm always ready to share with people! Feel free to PM me if you ever have any questions!
Also, if you're interested, for your posterity, the plugin "Vital" is free. It's like Serum but a bit better :3 It's great for sound design, and for beginners, I think it's a great learning tool — a blank slate for the patient to touch and tweaking and learn what everything is and does.
