[Holographic Print] Unicorn and the Moon
While this is a poster, this is a rather personal piece! There's a lot going on with it, but I'm not sure how interesting it is to read about. Continue at your own risk of boredom. :P
This artwork is purposefully derivative of Lisa Frank's iconic work while deliberately using my own art style. This is meant to be a spiritual successor to a few of my other unicorn prints over the years, an illustration that can stand on its own without the use of a dumb joke or pun, a "fuck you" to Lisa Frank Incorporated for the shit they pulled over Christmas, and a piece of art that would absolutely piss off my former self.
The overall idea and pose is from a piece I found in my old college sketchbook. I was desperately trying to become a "real" artist and have my craft taken seriously at that time. While I was still primarily a cartoonist, I found myself trying to do something more along the lines of Dark Natasha, or Golden Wolf, albeit more fantastical and folksy than "spiritual." The unicorn whose horn formed the crescent of the moon was one of those fancy high faluten' ideas that my self-important 20-year-old self thought of.
So I took that and repurposed it for rainbow puke pop art. Get that stick outta your ass, old me.
That's a lot of words and thoughts for a piece of art that's little more than "ooh shiny" lol. I think I'm okay with being a serious artist that draws incredibly unserious things. It's a lot more fun that way
Edit: Oh yeah, you can get your shiny holographic print of this here:

Thank you so much! That was pretty deliberate, actually! When printing on paper, the holographic effect shows up best on darker colors and can be almost invisible on pure white. This piece is one of those happy accidents where everything just ended up fitting together without have to work on it too much (except for those accursed horse legs, of course. :P )
A small suggestion, should you have the means, you should take a small video of the holographic other special effect posters.
Then convert it into a gif (https://giftuna.io/) I've heard good things about this one. There are many apps (if you work on the go) or online/browser-based converters too.
There's many video editing softwares you can use to fancy it up before conversion too (if you're concerned of something like quality)
I'd at least post something like that with Etsy listings, but I'd love to see that in general. Show off those fancy effects to the fullest!

Oh goodness it's great to hear from you! I hope that you're doing well!
Thank you so much for the suggestion! Etsy implemented video a while back and I've been meaning to do this for AGES. I just forgot with everything else going on haha! Thanks so much for the reminder! I'll try to find some time to do that this weekend!
I'm just absolutely AWFUL at getting decent photos and video haha! I should look up some tutorials on how to do that!

You could also have friends or the Mate give it a go!
Some folks just have a knack for the skill! My hubby isn't into art, or photography but loves to take videos and images of animals, particularly the pets.He has quite the knack! I, on the other hand, can't photograph or video to save my life XD
So it's something you could delegate out to someone else too, basically ^^ Though tutorials work too XD
