Finished this one a couple of months back. Long story short is I ended up being gifted a box of scraps, which, among other things, had this mini saddle kit with no instructions, missing parts, and... lets just say some of the leather was quite dried out. After finding out the kit was an old kit sold by Tandy, I began making the missing parts. The instructions I found online combined with the mashup of random papers in the gift had a tooling pattern, so I transferred it over and got to work. Took quite a few hours, and I learned quite a lot from this pattern. I knew an old saddle maker at one time who passed recently; they are really the one who set me down this pathway of leatherwork, and I wish I was able to show them this work today. Truth be told, they are still teaching me tricks when I look at their old works.
In any case, I think the kit is primarily between 2-4 oz veg-tan leather with some unknown leather lace. Finished it with just a simple dark brown antique and tan-kote. Not the easiest pattern when you are finding the parts that are missing, let alone the pattern itself is not a simple one. Yet, it did turn out quite nice and as a fun fact, it also fits a mini dachshund perfectly.
