Well, I was able to find this video which mashes up some of the highlights from the Dallas Cowboys' 1992 championship season with Toby Keith's "Shoulda Been a Cowboy", shot about the same time. Interesting note: Coach Jimmy Johnson's outburst "How 'Bout dem Cowboys" after the '92 NFC chmapionship game vs. San Francisco is still used by Cowboys fans, though it has become more and more sarcastic with each passing year since the last Super Bowl title (January 28, 1996).

Basically, the Cowboys used a host of very good draft picks from the Herschel Walker trade and a one-win season in 1989 to create a huge offensive line. Couple that with the Triplets- the league's most accurate passer in Troy Aikman, the statistically-best running back of all time in Emmitt Smith, and the unbelievably talented Michael Irvin- and an underrated defense and you have the best five years in football history by any team. They won the Super Bowl three times in four years. In their twelve playoff victories, they won by an average of more than 10 points, meaning opposing teams were absolutely CRUSHED by the Cowboys. Only a bad start in the '94 championship game kept them from winning four times straight.
The decline of America's Team was set in motion by the very person who helped build it- Jerry Jones. He fired Coach Johnson after the '93 season and while Barry Switzer led the team with players he inherited from Johnson, the lack of discipline led to wild parties, drug abuse by many of the players, and even a 1996 prostitution scandal involving some of the more famous players and some self-employed "models" from the Harry Hines Boulevard in Dallas. The team finished 6-10 in 1997 and thanks to Jones' poor drafting, has been one of the most mediocre teams in football history ever since, having only won one playoff game since 1996.
To conclude, while the Chicago Bulls may have won twice as many championships in their sport in the same decade, the Cowboys of the 1990's provide a great look at being at the top of the pro sports world before a precipitious, and largely self-inflicted, downfall. Personally, being a Cowboy fan myself, I hope to see them return to greatness but each year they manage to disappoint.
