Agreed. And not just in deign either. The devs have gotten a lot more snotty.
Trying to completely eliminate contact with customers, holding contests all the time where they can trick others into making free advertisement art for whoever is sponsoring them, and possibly making money off of artists' art (that isn't related to those contests) without the artists' knowledge. (Since Da's policy means they own whatever art you post there.) I mean, next thing you know, if someone actually gets the opportunity to make money with their OCs, Da's gonna demand a cut of the profits! Since their policy says they could claim ownership of the copyrights to the characters you post there.
I'll keep an eye out for stuff like that. Personally, I just don't like assuming stuff I've read online to be true where there is a 50/50 chance of being true or being false.
Oh I haven't read about it. It's just based on my own observations. They are snotty. Their customer service is just a thing that has to click on stuff until you find your problem, and the contact to submit a ticket to talk with someone is practically hidden under a bunch of crap. And they take forever to get back to you, or not at all. But when they do get back, it's 1 message of bs. They don't talk unless you've prodded a lot. Or if you submit a complaint about a piece of art. Which, they don't care about btw, I saw art that was clearly pedophilic, reported it, and they just said, basically: "Eh, the artist said this 1 is a teen, and its ok. We believe them." While completely ignoring that even a teen getting intimate with an adult is clearly not ok.
And the context thing? That's based on my knowledge of how free advertising works. Just genuine facts. Companies love giving fans reasons to show off their fandoms because it gets people hyped for upcoming stuff. Like movies or shows, for free. So if they just gotta pay DA to hold a contest, they'll do it. It's cheap.
And lastly, the copyright thing with DA. Their actual policy, which you can find on DA, says anything you post there THEY own the copyrights too. Fa certainly doesn't do that. Idk of other sites that do. You gotta admit, that's suspicious. Especially with the contest thing I just mentioned.
The last bit I mentioned was a hypothetical, but I wouldn't put it past the shady bastards. There's no doubt a reason they're vastly more successful than their competition. And when that happens, especially with blatantly shady stuff like that, it's never a good reason.
