Off to Japan
Figured now is as good a time as any to actually make a Journal update since it's been nearly 4 years since the last one, yes I do still check here and fav stuff, and in blue moons upload stuff I commissioned, not that I commission art very frequently anymore.
As of tomorrow morning I'm off on my honeymoon (yes 15 months after the wedding) to Japan. I'll be gone for about 3 weeks, uncertain how much I'll be online but I have organized SIM cards for while I'm over there. Going to be doing all the things: Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Osaka, Mt Fuji - Actually scheduled a guide to help us climb the mountain for my 39th birthday, so will certainly be a different birthday!
Not that I anticipate anything to happen, but I'd rather have this here in the event something does, so people know where I am/was. Also as a Journal in case FA's staff decides to target me with the most recent anti-babyfur banwave. I wanted to hold out hope that they'd review their policies if there was enough community pressure, but seems that's not the case. The few appeals they even bothered processing they did 2 hours before the initial bans were up. Nor did the new owner uphold the promises that were made on twitter to look into anything (yes I realize they were in hospital for awhile, but it's been over a wekk since their release and mnore effort and focus has been put on merchandising than on actually supporting the people that use FA). So yeah strongly recommend folks back up all their art to other platforms, just in case. Many a babyfur artist has already done so,
It's utterly tragic that a place like FA which has been a community hub for art for two decades has so rapidly started to spiral after Drgaoneer's passing. It wasn't great in his latter years, but not this bad - the community is divided over a dozen+ platforms now, which makes it difficult to support various artists, many whom have to host their own platforms which means subscription costs.
But who knows, maybe I'm wrong and when I return in 3 weeks the FA Admins will have started to clean up their act.
Anywho that's all for now, see folks upon my return! Ja ne!

I'm not going to try and offer professional advice on a platform like FA, all I'll offer is my own personal experience: The furry community is ultimately what you make of it. If you would like it to not be about sex you're best option is to become involved in non sexual aspects of it. Attend events, gatherings, conventions, volunteer even. These are also great ways to find and meet people yo help you get engaged in the hobbies you wish to try. Keeping busy is a good way to have less time spent thinking about your own libido also.
