Hey there!

As I receive more and more art, I thought it could be beneficial to write down a list of artists I had either the pleasure or frustration to deal with. Thus I decided to start this journal, giving a rough indication of my personal relationship and experience with those artists I dealt with in the past. The main purpose is to categorize whether I would recommend them to anyone for any future commissions or YCHs.

While this doesn't need to apply to anybody else, this little guide is intended to be helpful for everybody to decide whether an artist may or may not be a good choice to commission a picture in the first place.

Note that the categories below have nothing to do with the art quality in general. This list is focused on the interaction with the artist, the time it took for my commission to finish, the availability, appropriate pricing and similiar metrics. If the art quality actually did influence my experience with an artist, it is noted explicitly.

LillyVaine is without a doubt the goddess of moo! Not just her art is fantastic but also working with her has always been a pleasure.
She's such a good-hearted soul and I would immediately commish more stuff from her! She's basically Viluna for cows! :D

bitemylip (or Viluna) is another goddess of art in my eyes. <3 I can't state enough how amazed I was of her work. Not only did she finish the piece super fast - she felt like an actual person! What was amazing to me even more was how she came up with own ideas for the YCH, put them into the picture in a pleasing, wonderful way and even took the time looking through my gallery and reading my profile to learn more about me, which she used to add some random chalk drawing on the floor about my mate. Such an incredible artist! Go and support her, NOW! She's basically Lilly for dragons! :D

wolfhearts is one of the most incredibe artists I know. Really busy, but amazing!

Alduinred has amazing prices for the quality and finished all 3 YCH slots in about a week, amazing!

Porin took just 10 days to finish a YCH which turned out really lovely.

TheNightcave also took about 10 days for a more detailled commission that turned out great, respecting any wishes and changes.

BlitheDragon isn't just an amazing artist, but also surprised me with being really friendly after I requested some changes to the sketch.
The commission itself took about two months to finish.

Raxrie took each less than two weeks to finish my YCHs and really is an underappreciated artist in my opinion.

Inert-Ren is another amazing artist who took about a month each for several commissions. It always turned out great quality!

Tailzkim took less than a week to finish a YCH I managed to get! While the quality is just amazing, also the quick response and straightforward interaction was very refreshing.

Kodus is a very nice and underrated artist from my experience. His quality can be all over the place from image to image,
but I would certainly try commissioning him again, given the appropriate image content.

R-Z or Re-Re took about a week each for average priced YCHs. I'm quite happy with how it turned out although the communication was a bit too brief and sparse for my liking.
I still want to categorize him/her/them/whatever as recommended artists because I really love the style and the consistent art quality.

carlac did an amazing job on two inflation pic (she had no prior expertise with), kept me up to date with tons of WIP and sent all the stuff to my e-mail, which is great because FA still has no way to actively inform you about incoming notes or anything! I wish more YCHs I got felt like this :3

redraptor16 is one of the most incredible and amazing artists, not just when it comes to quality, but also how caring and actually listening to every suggestion and wish this guy is! Also he immediately started the YCH after it was sold and it took just about a couple days! Oh gods, I wish everybody would do things like that!

zetsin draws some seriously stunning hyper stuff. I'm always amazed by this simplicity and incredibly sexy stuff. The only thing I genuinely haven't found out yet, is how all the accounts are connected. From what I know zetsin is the mate of re-re occasionally doing collaborations as r-z and tofu-doggo is an alt account focused on hyper stuff.

paintchaser was avery friendly guy who also took only a couple days for the YCH. I'm really in love with their way of drawing glossy tits ands butts! Hnnnnnnnnnnggg~<3

annadark is another artist I would immediately recommend to anybody! She's (?) doing some amazing curvy, busty characters and communication and discussing changes was really a pleasure.

hierophant_green took about a month each to finish two amazing YCHs I got until now. Would definitely commish again in the future!

SpaceKitten managed to finish a simple teasing YCH after 4 months but also had some issues with drawing equipment.

Shinigamisquirrel was a nice and friendly artist to work with. My feral dragon YCH was finished in about a month.

Fleki just took a couple of days to finish my YCH, though the content really was nothing special.

Anora_Drakon finished a commission after dealing with some personal issues. I'm really happy how the art turned out.
Given the current circumstances, I just wouldn't recommend queueing another YCH in the absurd backlog of pending work [as of Dec 2020].

greame made her way back to this list of okay-artists after she randomly noted me when she noticed this journal. Originally I had a real bad experience with a YCH I bought.
While her art style is usually really amazing, my YCH slot pretty much was just a copy & paste into the existing lineart without any sort of adjustments made whatsoever.
After she noticed how unhappy I was with how it turned out though, she offered me to make some corrections to it. And while for me personally it's still not the very best piece I ever commissioned,
I'm certainly really thankful for the offer and the fact she cares so much, even when the piece was done over 5 months ago. This certainly is a trait I wish more artists had!
Though, make sure you read what other experience somebody had here.

drakonst finished two of my all-time-favorite commisions by having an active Patreon. As this seems so to be the only way for him to receive money, I'm totally fine with it. What really bugged me during the whole conversation was how socially awkward it felt. In addition to language barrier issues, communicating just felt... odd for some reason. I just LOVE their style, it is absolutely AMAZING. Don't get me wrong! But the result, pose and content you'll get really is a hit-or-miss gambling game.

lizardlars is an incredible red flag to me when it comes to commissions. He managed to finally finish a YCH I bought 8 months ago after I repeatedly asked about the status and any progress.
While I don't necessarily judge about something taking longer than a couple of months per se, the experience I had with him, simply put, was terrible.
When buying art from somebody, I expect to receive a certain respect as a client and customer, just like you would walk into a store to buy something. This goes without words but of course it goes both ways. I'd want to respect the artist from my side just as much, staying friendly when discussing details or not delaying any payment. From my point of view Lizardlars has absolutely shredded any trust in his way of working through his list of accepted commissions. He sold a lot of new YCH pieces after the one I bought, finished those without any word or update on the earlier one and the only updates I eventually received were spare excuses and promises that the piece would be down "next", only followed by more, newly accepted art, sometimes only taking a couple of days, when he appeared to be "in desperate need of some money".
I don't expect any artist to absolute strictly follow any commission-taking order, but this was a off-putting example of being disrespectful and not caring about any communication.
Edit:
After a long talk, I'm willing to believe that he simply wasn't fully aware of how I perceived this experience during this time. He has apologized and while this doesn't make up for the delay and frustration, I though I should mention it here. This however does not change my recommendation to stay cautious regarding any artist who seems to have taken extraordinary long times to finish something. You may end up lucky or you may not. I genuinely hope we both learned something from this experience.

Lunalei was a bit of a double-edged sword during both YCHs I got until now.
Her art is gorgous at one hand but communication lacks a bit and feels somewhat like she doesn't really read through all the provided information and details,
so you end up mentioning corrections here and there which in turn made her go a little grumpy and pushy eventually. Just make it very clear what you're going for.

Aimee-lesley-sim was another artist I just couldn't really wrap my head around how to deal with.
She seems to be a really nice person, but the communication and experience working with her was very puzzling.
She seems very focussed on fast-paced drawings and working her way through commissions ASAP.
Although I can't say the quality suffered from that, certainly the communication felt strange.

problematicpossum had a really strange way of doing YCHs. Each slot was sold separately and time independent. So if a slot wasn't sold, the picture still was done up to this point. This may sound positive at first, but simply felt odd as my YCH picture basically was "in progress" for like a year until that slot was finally sold. Having a semi-finished picture with blank characters sent to you feels quite odd to be honest. Simply add some dummy characters then, if stuff doesn't sell completely. But don't make your customers wait for a finished piece of art forever.
