combine glam rock punk & jrock with glamor make up elaborate hair styles & flamboyant costume was pioneered by x japan luna sea d'erlangere buck-tick & color in the 80s scenes & some band in the mid 90s began to popularized by a japanese band name malice mizer had success of their characteristic costume by mana sama help popularized the fashion of gothic lolita & other bands such dir en grey kuroyume penicillin start to help rise the visual kei
